www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/8866064Coincidence? I think not. A ton of guys are now afraid of getting caught and have laid off on the roids, and power numbers are down. Thoughts from you guys? Is it because of steroid testing, or is it just a down year for homers?

I think it has some part to do with the roids testing as well as a down year for homers. Many players who took steroids laid off them this year, but it was also just a lower homerun year for the majors this season.

it is all about the roids Can never give people the benefit of the doubt, huh? Maybe players just had an 'off' year.

Why are they picking on Vinny Castilla? He's like 36 years old, of course he's gonna have a downfall at the end of his career! I do think that Adrian Beltre is on 'roids because he pops out of nowhere to hit 48, then shys away back into the norm.

I love how they basically say that Rolen, Bonds and Thome have been having bad years since the thing. No duh. Rolen's been gone pretty much all year, Bonds has only played like 5 games, and Thome...well, he got kind of replaced, didn't he?

That article is pretty awful. Like people have said, citing Bonds, Rolen, and Thome just is silly. I'm saying I disagree with the main point, but you can't jump to such conclusions after one year. I'm no expert in statistics, but you need to wait for more than one year to collect data to truly and accurately analyze whether steroid use is the main factor in the decline.

I'm not so much on his side as I am on hating the media. Seriously, they come out with the dumbest **** to tell, saying Bonds only has 2 homeruns because he's off the roids? He's been back a week, obviously he won't hit 45.

I think Thome was juicing. Don't know about Rolen.

Thome is a toss up. Rolen is a pure player. He plays the game the way it should be. He doesn't watch his homeruns, he runs hard even it he hits it 500 feet. Unfortanutley we had to ridicule him to the point that we're stuck with David Bell.

How can anyone be on this man's side? I'm not on anyone's side. I was saying their examples were really really bad. And how is losing 28 pounds silly? Regardless of any beliefs, Bonds was also an amazing player when he was skinny. And about being on Bond's side. I don't really have much beef with him. People hate him because he's cold to the media, but where is it written you have to kind? Athletes are thrust into a situation where they are expected to be forthcoming with many things, but if he doesn't want to, how am I to comment?

I dont think Barry really is, i know he admited it kind of, but I just dont see how he did, maybe he did it to get the media off his back (stupid move if that is why) but he already has 2 HRs since being back...

He didn't kind of admit to it. He did. And what does hitting two homeruns have to di with it?

another last night means he has hit a HR for every 6 ABs that is amazing...and now that he isnt on the juice I still believe he might be the best HR hitter behind Aaron

Don't be naive ASM, he's still using the stuff. He is just using stuff off the list of drugs they test for.

Why does everyone have to just jump on Barrys back. "He is using, omg all his homeruns should be erased". Why cant you all just realize maybe he actually has the talent to hit all those homeruns...

No one's saying he doesn't have the talent to hit a ton of home runs...he was going to get to 500 without the juice anyway, since he is a great hitter. The thing I have a problem with is him gaining about 75 pounds of pure muscle in less than a decade, and his head has literally grown, which it doesn't do when you're in your late 30's/early 40's as Barry has been during his little tear. My guess is that he's most likely on HGH, not necessarily steroids. I don't believe there are any tests for HGH other than maybe blood tests, but even those aren't 100% accurate. The truth is that there are probably a lot of MLB and NFL players that are now on HGH due to most steroids being banned.
