Sox-Angels is gonna be a boring, slow paced, pitching and defensive duel. It will probably be the most boring baseball all season long. Sox in 5. That's my favorite kind actually. One hit making the differance, more of a thinking man's game. Put out the wrong pitcher and he gives up a run and your in trouble. Games like this will have the managers on their seats and me to. I'd much rather watch a pitcher's duel than a 11-9 ballgame personally.

Exactly. The 11-9 games are why I can't stand AL games for the most part. True, it may be a little boring to see AL teams play NL-style ball since for the most part they suck at it (Aaron Rowand not being able to get down a freaking bunt...the Brewers had this problem all year, which is annoying because it's one of the first things you learn to do in Little League), but I like the Angels because they run the bases aggressively, execute hit-and-runs almost perfectly, take advantage of runners in scoring position, and they have great pitching that keeps them in every game. My World Series has been the Cardinals and the Angels since they playoffs have started, and not surprisingly those two teams play almost exactly alike.
By the way sep, how can you say the Angels/Sox series will be the most boring series ever and then go on to say that the Cards/Astros series will be great? They're essentially the same series, with the same kind of teams playing.

The only thing about really low scoring, pitching duel type games with me is...after awhile the lack of baserunners and activity actually going on gets really boring. The ending is always exciting but 3-2 ball games with a total of 6 baserunners all game just gets drawn out. I always like seeing a team go up early by a good margin, then have the opposition charge back and give them a run for their money late in the game, forcing the bullpen to have to work hard and sometimes blasting in a 2-run shot to win the game or something. Something needs to happen besides repetitive ground balls and strikeouts.

Because Jami...
Cards hitting > Angels - Sox hitting
Is why the Cards/Astros series will be more exciting. Cause the Cards can actually hit the ball opposed to little small ball bunt style the Sox and Halos play.

Cause the Cards can actually hit the ball opposed to little small ball bunt style the Sox and Halos play. But the Astros have a kick-ass pitching staff, as opposed to the Padres, who had a broken armed ace and a couple guys that are 3s and 4s on a lot of teams. And the Astros hitters suck as it is, so Chris Carpenter and Co. should keep the Stros from putting up too much. If it was the Braves instead of the Stros, then it would probably be a higher scoring game, but the fact is, that because Houston is the opponent, St. Louis will not have as much success as they would against other teams. I'm not saying they won't score, but Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt on their good days are better than Smoltz, Hudson, and Sosa, and the last series proved it. And Jami is right here. The Angels play great. Darren Erstad is the toughest guy in baseball, and would play a routine ground ball in the 2nd inning look like it was vital to winning the WS on that very play. Chone Figgins is the fastest (maybe Jose Reyes has him, but it'd be close) guy in the league, and unlike Reyes, can get on base more. The whole team 1-9 can hit for average, which no other team in the league could do, and the power they have with Garrett Anderson, Vlad, and the emerging Molina (not sure how long he'll have this spurt) will put up any additional runs needed. Put that with a great pitching staff with a great ace and a great supporiting cast, not to mention K Rod, and that's a WS calibur team.

Card Hitting > Angles Hitting + WSox Hitting > Astro's Hitting * Astro's Hitting * Astro's Hitting * Astro's Hitting
Astro's Pitching > Cards Pitching + Angles Pitching + WSox Pitching
I think you get the point...
BTW: Go 'Stros

That's how they've had to win games with Rolen, Sanders, and Edmonds missing extended amounts of time this year. As I type that, the Cards get a run home on a squeeze bunt. So much for not playing that small-ball style, huh? By the way, the White Sox hit more than 200 home runs as a team this year. Just because they don't have one guy hitting 50 and driving in 170 runs doesn't mean they can't hit the ball.

The Cards (probably the best team in baseball over the past few years) vs Astros has potential to be a good series, but I see the Cards offense breaking out. And the Cards sweep (ok, maybe they wont, but i really need them to, to become 5 bucks richer.) Ok, your unofficially banned from ever posting about baseball again. True baseball fans don't think scoring runs is everything. Me, I would rather see a 2-1 pitchers battle, where a runner bunted to second could end up being the tying run, thats baseball.

Low run games make you want to watch the whole game. If it's a 0-0 tie in the 6th, you don't change the channel to miss an inning, because if you do, you could miss the only scoring of a game. If it's a high scoring game, you can miss an inning and find that your team scored 4 runs, and your opponent scored 6. There's too much going on there, and those games last forever. I hate it when it's a slugfest and the starter gets pulled early, and then these scrubs relievers come on for 5 innings before the setup man ends the game after the team gives up 14 runs. Seeing a starter pitch 7 innings, having a setup man for an inning, and seeing a closer like Billy Wagner hit 100 MPH to end the game is exciting enough for me. They're more nerve racking then the slugfests, wheret here's no pressure in the early innings...

Ok ok, I have been converted. I see the ways of why the low scoring game is better than the slugfest.
