Please god help me on this one, I was just at Minute Maid Field, and had to witness the worst thing that could ever happen. The feeling of going of the Highest of highs with 2 outs and 2 strikes on Eckstien, 1 strike from going to the world series, then seeing Pujols hit a 421 foot homerun to go up by one... the atmosphere of the stadium said it all, it was unbelievably loud, then so silent if a pin dropped in centerfield everyone would have heard it. This easily goes down as the worst feeling ever.

... I guess you and the buffalo sabre fans have something to feel for, extreme disappointment...
but it does suck and I do feel you. A game like that I remember was way back when Kordell Stewart was @ Colorado and they came to the Big House (Michigan) to try and upset this top ranked team. Leading in the 4th quarter by 3 with only 6 seconds or so left on the clock, Stewart chucked a bomb to the endzone from mid-field. The ball was tipped behind the crowd and a Colorado player was there to make the grab and win the game for Colorado. Not a good game and it was as quiet as all getout.
Hope things get better for you...

Gut check for the 'Stros.
Believe Centaur, I've been there many times before with the Bosox.

Talk about overreacting. Though it may seem impossible, all the Stros need to do is win once and it's all behind them.

Well I think the Astros are still going to win it. Mulder didn't pitch well against them last time and neither did Matt Morris. So far the only Cardinal pitcher who has been able to shut them down is Carpenter, but even he gave up four runs last night. The STL bullpen is on shaky ground right now too, so I still think Houston will come through.

Its not that I am that worried about winning the series, Oswalt and Clemens will make sure we do that, it was just the whole being at the game, having that much excitement running threw you...when the pressure that was built up goes away that fast, it just leaves a hole. (really not sure how much sense that all made, someones bound to know that feeling) That was the problem, its the feeling, just like one just shot a rifle threw my spirit. That hole will probably never be filled, as Astro fans have never been to the world series before, even if we go now, the win won't be at home in front of 43,450 buzzing fans (43,470 was the attendence, there were about 20 Cardinal fans that got in somehow without being shot)(yes sadly humor is really the only way to avoid a deep sadness in this). Anyhow my rambling isn't really helping that much, but its almost more of a support group thing.
To cerrano's post, Buckner's error was the only other game that we could think of that has been that close, and that important.
To ASM, no one in the stadium wanted to pitch to him, (cept the astro's), I certainly wouldn't have, and I said that to those standing next to me when he came up, they agreed. The problem wasn't Pujols though, it was Eckstien and Edmonds, who went like 4-5 and kept that horrible inning alive.

It had to be really tough for Houson fans, because you went from thinking you were going to lose, to "oh my god, we're going to the WS", to "oh no, we're going back to STL." ESPN is completely overreacting to try to make a story out of this, it's not that big a deal that STL won. Here's a cool link that talks about the probablities going into tonight's game: www.whowins.com/2005series/mlb2005b.html

Nope, hate the Cubs. And how does a Braves fan like the Marlins.
