the percentage of baseball fans that are either yankees or red sox fans is probably somewhere 50% of all baseball fans may be even more(actually it probably is true) i've been an angels fan ever since i predicted them winning the world series.
the rally monkey lives within every angels fan.

The percentage of baseball fans who are Sox or Yankees fans is probably considerably low. The percentage of baseball "fans" who think they are Sox or Yankees "fans" because they know the name of three starters AND they own a T-Shirt is considerably high.

And there goes the division, no way the BoSox even make the AL East race close this year. With Johnny batting infront of 3 possible Hall Of Famers..the division is theres to lose.

Of course the race will still be close. The Yankees still need pitching. The Yankees are without a doubt the favorites, but Boston are they really 10 games better? No. The Red Sox have made some considerable upgrades this offseason. Why don't we wait until April to spot the Yankees a 15 game victory.

Yeah, the Yankees bullpen has gotten stronger, but I still don't think it is there in starting pitching. Who knows what to expect though, an injury may change all of this.

Dude you can't be mad at him. He did a lot in Boston. He wants money, that is what a lot of things come down to. I have known for a long time that 'The Boss' liked Johnny Damon. I was just waiting until the team tried to get him. Yeah he did good in Boston, but if your a Red Sox player, how do you go to New York on a drop of a dime. I dont care if its for the money, Damon is loved in Boston and should look at a retaliation offer from the Sox first.

You have to look at this from a player standpoint. You want the money. Will that popularity be there after their career? It is hard to say, you can't risk it. You don't know what can happen, take the money while you can.

I was just waiting until the team tried to get him. Yeah he did good in Boston, but if your a Red Sox player, how do you go to New York on a drop of a dime. I dont care if its for the money, Damon is loved in Boston and should look at a retaliation offer from the Sox first. Boston's front office dragged their feet and come out of this looking like fools. They didn't even know about it until the media did. That says a lot about their abilities. They offered Damon 4/48 but were so convinced that there was no market for him, that it would work out in the end. They forgot the key rule in free agency, in any sport, it only takes one team to create that market. The Yankees came in and gained a very good baseball asset, as well as a pyschological one. I'm sick of people saying Damon "betrayed" the Sox. Are me and fellow Boston fans going to still like him? No. But that isn't the point. There is no loyalty in sports (be quiet about Larkin or Reggie, Naffy), and fans who think there is are naive and fickle. Damon owes nothing to Boston as a city and organization. He signed here for 4 years and busted his butt everyday. His contract was over. He is free to sign anywhere. It is hypocrytical for fans to just be outraged because he is a good player. There is plenty of history with Boston players going to play for the Yankees and vice versa. None of them seem to mind. That just brings up the whole issue of the rivalry being fan and media created. I don't see any Yankees saying, "Hey, Damon is Red Sox, get him out of here!" I guarantee no Sox fans would cry traitor if A-Rod was a free agent next year and came to Boston. You can't cry over spilt milk, and this is the FO's fault. They screwed up, and are going to face the jury on it. Whether you think he's overrated or not, atleast Theo Epstein would've known what is going on with Damon. The thing that angers me the most, is how the FO was just side-swept and got caught jerking off.

Cerrano, they're obviously trying to find a way to get Merloni back. I mean, he is pretty much God.

Don't forget Barry's little brother, Stephen Larkin. He played his full career with the Reds too

I agree with basically everything Cerrano said. There is little to no loyalty in sports. Unless you're a franchise player, the team you've been with your whole career isn't going to go all out to retain your services. Damon was solid, but as others have said, he did the smart thing and took the money while he could still get it.
On a side note, none of this matters to me. I'm a Braves fan and we'll win with a team full of tee-ball players if need be, because that's what we do.

I want to see Coco Crisp in centerfield come summer.
God I love that name. Plus he could leadoff, and play centerfield. Could he be more perfect?

I and the city of Cleveland wouldn't be happy. Me from a personal standpoint of knowing the kind of guy he is, but Cleveland would be stupid to give him up. He and Grady Sizemore set the table well.

This just in: The sox are looking to replace Johnny Damon with..get this...Mr.T! That's right, he can play all 3 outfield positions at the same time, so they can trade Manny for Tejada and be set in the outfield. He is a god, folks
