I am not trying to be biased towards my team, but is it just me or do the Yankees have one of the best bullpens in baseball right now.
With Rivera, Farnsworth, Dotel, Myers, and last year breakthrough Small I have the feeling we won't be blowing many games like we did last year.
Again is it just me or are they as good as they seem?

Rivera alone makes them one of the best bullpens in all of baseball for the past decade or so..
But i agree, they do have a very good bullpen with Farnsworth, Dotel, Myers, and others.

Picking up Dotel was a good move. He's not good enough to be a closer, but is a valid setup man indeed... I can't remember all the team's bullpens in the league, but yeah, it certainly is much better than last year... as long as Rivera keeps dominating, they'll be alright...

They did do a lot this year to help get that bullpen better. That was one of their main problems over the past few years. About time the problem was addressed.

Yeah now all we have to worry about is getting our starters to last long enough to make our bullpen effective. I have a hunch that Johnson is going to bounce back, and have a decent season, and knowing the Yankees we will get a last minute big name starting pitcher. *cough* Clemens *cough*

I don't think Clemens is going back to New York...too many bridges were burned when he decided to unretire, in my opinion.

Im worried about our starters too as we obviously didnt do well with the starters last year. Aaron Small did go something like 11-0 as a starter though

The Yankees will blow it again. It always happens and I am praying it happens again. You cant buy a championships. You need team chem. look at the Red Sox they had great chem. when they upset the Yanks, you just cant buy a championship

And speaking of buying a championship, the Red Sox had the 2nd highest payroll in the majors the year they won it all, only behind the Yanks. Yeah they had chemistry when they won, but last year, the team with this "good chemistry" finished just as close as the Yanks did...

They won it with pitching, Rivera, and a good flow on offense, and not too many egos (unless you call Paul O'Neill an ego.)

Well those Yankees of the '90s did not have near the salary of the guys today. It really started around 2000. But the '98 team for example, that was just some stars and role players, it was great.

Yeah, but I think this year we should have a decent chemistry. I think George is finally realizing that we need to actually keep some of the players in our farm system if we want to win. ;D

Am I the only one not as infatuated with the Yanks bullpen?
Sure, Mariano is Mariano, but look at the others. Farnsworth has had one really good year, and that was last year, pitching in spacious Comerica for Detroit. He didn't do much when he went to Atlanta. Dotel has serious injury concerns. Myers is aging I think and doesn't have much left in the tank. And was Small's season a fluke? After all, he was a starter, he might not have as much success out of the pen.
Too many ifs for my liking.

Doesn't matter, the Yanks bullpen is pretty yummu looking for opponents.

The Tribe might be the only team in the AL Central that can keep up with the North siders this upcoming season.

Let's not forget Cleveland has the best bullpen in the AL. Let's not forget Cleveland has made it to the playoffs once in what, 6 years... who cares about Cleveland, we're not even talking about them... Well, who cares, we have a team that was full of minor leaguers who have an 8-1 chance of winning the World Series this year. We are better than the Yankees, because we have one thing the Yankeses dont: plans for the future. Grady Sizemore. Travis Hafner. Jhonny Peralta. CC Sabathia. Cliff Lee. Jake Westbrook. All of these guys are people that were passed up by the Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox, Cardinals, etc. And we have these young, young players who can only get better, playing amazing baseball and having an amazing record. Yeah, I know, the Yankees have Octavio Dotel, Mariano Rivera, Jason Giambi, Derek Jeter, A-Rod, etc. But with all the high name athletes in the world, that won't win another championship for George in the future. He has no AAA or AA players that are good, and he doesn't have a good young player (our whole roster, besides Coco Crisp, is a young roster) besides Aaron Small, who will stay around another 9-10 years. So when you guys turn into the Indians from 2001, 2002, and 2003, I will be wallowing in the time that is the Tribe. Good day, gentlemen. ~ Jamison
