I never realized that these too feat happened in the same year, so I ask you, which do you think was the better accomplishment. Joe Dimaggio's 56 game hitting streak or Ted Williams' .406 average?

Arright then I pose you this question. Which feat will be conquered first? 56 or .406?

56. Easier to do, thats why .406 is the better accomplishment.

...how can anybody choose .406 over 56 here?
Players have hit .400 28 different times in the major leagues and players have flirted with the .400 line as recently as Tony Gwynn in 1994. Hell, .406 isn't even in the top 15 single season batting averages of all time. However, nobody has even come close to Joe DiMaggio's 56 game streak. The media makes a big deal about players getting 25 game streaks...that's less than half of Joe's...proportionaly, that's like making a big deal about a .200 hitter compared to Williams' .406.
.400 will happen again in the next few decades. 56, or even 44 for that matter, will probably never be touched again.

Rollins' situation was blown way out of proportion, they put way to much pressure on him, wait till he is around the 45 game hit streak before you start hyping it up. But yes I picked 56 too Naffy, I agree many people are close to .406 it will be conqured....56 however will never be touched with the kind of pitching that is coming around It wasn't only Rollins. It's any time any player get's a lengthy streak going.
