OK, this week Im up against our league leader. His team is the 10-man starting lineup, one bench guy, and the rest a large staff of starting pitching. Basically, I have very little if any chance of winning the "Wins" or "Ks" category, though he has no relievers so Im guaranteed saves (assuming Jenks or Hoffman get just 1 this week).
I have a pretty big starting staff myself, led by Halladay, Sabathia, Oswalt (off DL in two days), and Glavine, among others. My strategy to counter his massive pitching staff is to start only my aces, reach the minimum IP requirement (15), and the SIT everyone, hoping my ERA and WHIP will already be so low he cant pass it, which along with my saves will give me a 3-2 edge in the pitching categories. Then Ill take my chances with the offenses.
Thoughts? I was planning on using Halladay tomorrow and then Sabathia later this week, then Halladay again this weekend should I not have 15 innings already. Or should I go straight at him and hope the rest of my staff comes through this week, or his guys get teed off on? He has Kazmir and Ramon Ortiz starting tonight, maybe Ill wait and see what happens.

I have done something similar, playing my aces, getting the minimum, and holding out for a low ERA and WHIP week. If you think you will lose all other pitching categories, just look at your offensive match-ups closely and try to beat him as best as possible.

Well Rios's two homers are gettin me off to a good start offensively, and all my other guys have at least a run/RBI.
Kazmir went 5 innings, no runs for him but like 7 hits/walks. Ortiz 6 2/3 4 runs, 9 hits/walks. 10 Ks combined I believe.
I think Ill start all three guys tomorrow I have (Halladay, Pettitte, Glavine) and see what happens.

Right now Im looking at an ERA around 2.50 and WHIP 1.12 after having Halladay, Pettitte, Glavine (ugh), and then Jenks pitch today. Good enough to win? He had Schilling tonight though and may be beating me now. Is it worth starting Oswalt tomorrow and hope he gets my numbers lower? He has Brad Penny and Orlando Hernandez going.
