San Francisco Giants traded Joe Nathan, Boof Bonser and Francisco Liriano to the Minnesota Twins for A.J. Pierzynski and a player to be named or cash considerations. That worked out well....for Minnesota.
Post your favorite boneheaded deals below. They may not have seemed boneheaded at the time, but now you can't believe they ever happened.

It's funny because I believe San Francisco's GM complained that there was a lack of young, good closers in the league at that time...

The Mariners trading A-Rod, The Big Unit, Ken Griffey, and everyone else that was a star on their team Once again, ASM lacks common knowledge. A-Rod bolted via FA, and I'm not positive regarding this but I think were were circumstances surrounding the Griffey trade as well. They sure didn't do too bad in 2001... Here's some more: December 13, 1999: Florida Marlins trade LHP Johan Santana to the Minnesota Twins for Jared Camp and cash. November 11, 1998: Cincinnati Reds trade 1B Paul Konerko to the Chicago White Sox for Mike Cameron. July 30, 2004: New York Mets trade Scott Kazmir and Jose Diaz to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for Victor Zambrano and Bartolome Fortunato. June 24, 1993: Florida Marlins traded Trevor Hoffman, Andres Berumen and Jose Martinez to the San Diego Padres for Gary Sheffield and Rich Rodriguez. (Sheffield did help Florida win the 1997 World Series, but I'd say Hoffman played major dividends for the Padres...2nd most career saves in ML history. November 19, 1993: Los Angeles Dodgers trade Pedro Martinez to the Montreal Expos for Delino DeShields. November 18, 1997: Montreal Expos trade Pedro Martinez to the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later (Tony Armas Jr.) and Carl Pavano.

Armas is a good yound pitcher and while he did bolt Pavano was pretty good. Plus Maritinez would have left in FA the next year anyway.
