Tigers to call up Miller

The Tigers called up their first round draft pick, Andrew Miller, after 5 starts! I'm excited to se him pitch, reminds me of when Seattle called up Kaz Susuki, they said the same thign on Baseball Tonight... last night. Great move by the Tigres.

I think he'll be fine. Scouts said he'd be ready for the majors by 2007. He's 21, no older than Joel Zumaya, and we've seen what Joel has done. He's 6-6, 98 MPH fastball.

He wasn't rushed.

Physical tools aren't everything. I'm worried that if he gets rocked by someone that it could damage his mental state. But, we'll see what happens.

Sandy Koufax, Bob Feller, Catfish Hunter, to name a few never played in the minors. Not saying Miller is in this class, but there is quite an impressive list of players who skipped the minors all together.

Scouts said he'd be ready for the MLs by 2007, and those same scouts were expecting contract negotiations to take much longer than they really did. There's hardly any minor league season left, so this doesn't really seem that nuts.

Tell you what though, he looks about 16.

Your right DB, he looks really young. The Tigers are hoping he will be in the starting rotation next year, but I think if we can get him in as a long reliever and get him used to the big league level, by the All-Star break he could become a starter for us.
