3/3 today with 3 home runs (50, 51, 52) off Tim Hudson. This is part of a continuous double header so he has a chance at getting at least 53 today.
By the way, Howard just broke the sophomore home run record of 51.

Pujols has 3 today too.As much as Howard deserves MVP, Pujols will probably win it.

Statistically, there's no doubt Howard is the MVP. Beltran does have the better team record-wise, but he only has more runs (which isn't Howard's fault because he has no support and Beltran has Wright and Delgado behind him), more steals, and of course less Ks. Howard's homers, RBIs, and average blow away everything else. Beltran in no way desrves it over him.
Pujols has a much better chance a) because he's pretty much the face of everything good in baseball and b) because his stats are somewhat close to Howard, and some are a little better. The average is higher, the runs again are higher, but the strikeout difference is huge (153 to 39). Normally I wouldn't think much of strikeouts having an effect, but 39 Ks is hard to mess with. Still, the homers and RBIs are higher.
I still pick Howard to win, with Pujols as a runner-up, and the dark horse Alfonso Soriano in 3rd. Beltran is not putting up MVP numbers. He's putting up the numbers he should have had three or four years ago.

I would like to see Howard win it, but I think Pujols will get it because the pitching has been atrocious lately on the Cards. Also, Pujols has been Mr. Consistent over his career, while Howard is just starting his career. If Howard can do this year in and year out, watch out.

Whoever plays well and carrys his team into the playoffs will get the MVP. That's how it's always been and will continue to be. People remember the last thing you do. If Howard gets a steak going and carries Philly into the playoffs.... he could win it.

I didn't know all the MVP voters were into sabermetrics.

Actually A Rod won the AL MVP on a last place team, so the biased voters shafted deserving guys that made the playoffs or at least came close... And DB, your new sig is great. Not the quote or this Zumaya character, the bottom thing

I didn't know all the MVP voters were into sabermetrics. I thought we were talking about who should be MVP
