CF or SS.
Most ground to cover on the field for their respective positions. I may be biased, but first base is also nearly as tough, especially in high school, because high schoolers tend to have less accurate arms than do college and pro players. I played the position in high school, I should know.
What do you all think?

Catcher.
I should know, since I catch right now. Ain't nothing like having a ball thrown at you at 85 miles an hour. You get more cuts, bruises, and injuries than any other position on the field.

Amen to that. It's a very taxing position. Also, you talk about fielding, even a shortstop gets maybe 15 chances a game. A catcher deals with upwards of 100 throws to him at 80+ MPH at various locations and is basically expected to catch all of them. I forgot to mention that it's the catchers responsibility to call the game. You call the wrong pitch and you put your entire team in deep trouble.

Catcher... gotta have balls to take fastballs coming right at your head, even with the protection...

I'm a pitcher, and I'll say catcher by far. I've played my share of every position on the field except for first (where I had to play a couple games because I cracked a couple ribs and couldn't throw)...and catcher, which I will never ever play.
Ever get a foul tip off the forearm? Got that once in BP...no thanks from me.

i have played nearly every postion and I think catcher is by far the worst where im at because when its 118-120 and you have all that gear on and you have to squat it gets just a little tiring. As centerfield being tough im pretty fast so I like being able to cover all that field and make those diving catches

There is no way to quantify the degree of difficulty of the positions. They are all so different which is why you see very few players who are good at all of them (defensively). Once you get older, you generally focus on one (perhaps two) because it is so hard.

i live in oklahoma and yes it gets that hot in the summer Uh, I still don't think it gets quite that hot. Up to 110, I could see but 120 is like Death Valley hot. Maybe in all that gear it feels that hot or something, but 120 just seems a little much. Oh and catcher is still the hardest position.

I say pitcher, if you cant throw strikes then youll never get an out. And the catcher doesnt matter if the pitcher cant throw strikes.

Uh, a good catcher makes your pitching staff good. That's why Boston brought in that one guy to catch Wakefield.
