I am unsure which way to go with this. I guess I am looking for personal input on the goods for each.

Why is OOTP so popular....I've played both and Mogul owns it. I guess OOTP is just easier for Simleagues.

I only used it for SimLeagues though, as DB said.
I guess it depends what you plan on doing with it?

Mainly just managing a franchise. I don't think I would do a sim league with it. I might participate in online leagues with other people, but not a pure sim league.

I've got Mogul 07 and the game is GREAT for managing your franchise. Lots of options and it doesn't get old. I'm rolling with the Devil Rays in year 2078. Once you get into the nuances of the game, it becomes very enjoyable. 08 is going to be great too.

I think '08 is out already. That is the one I intend to buy. Either way, I think it will be fun. If you can make it that deep with the Devil Rays, the game must be interesting.

I "bought" BM08 "at my local tech store" yesterday and I must say for a "$24.95" game, it's pretty ballin... hell of a lot of things you can play around with...

I too have Mogul 07...I'd be interested in upgrading to 08 if I see it anywhere (I like to do things legally....sometimes) but I enjoy it a ton. Fantastic franchise simulation, and all things considered, the actual "gameplay" (if you can call it that) isn't that bad either.

I am pretty sure I am going to get this. I took a trip to a city north of me to see if I could find it (Best Buy, Target, etc.) but was unable to find it. I was thinking of just paying for the download off of their site but I would prefer to have a disc version on hand. They let you download from their site as much as you want, within reason, to get it on multiple PC's. It expires after a while though so if I were to have a system crash, then I am screwed.

I bought Mogul 2008 a couple days ago. I'm having a good time simming but don't find it very realistic at all. I started with Florida, and first of all didn't like that I had to convert Cabrera to a 3B. Anyway I finished about 15 games under 500, pretty reasonable, but I made the most money of any team in the NL. In the offseason I signed Cabrera to a 5yr/12.1M extension, Willlis to 3yr/7.4M, Julio 3yr/4.45M, then went to free agents and was able to add Andruw Jones at 12.5M a year, Francisco Rodriguez 6.2M a year, and Ivan Rodriguez at 5.1M a year. Hell would freeze over if Florida did anything like this. I traded Jacobs, Willingham, and Mitre for Nick Markakis, then some AAA pitcher for John Patterson straight up (offered to me that way). This year I'm already pulling away before the All Star break.

I read of that problem as well. The game doesn't take in the aspect that owners are greedy and wouldn't put money ino their team.
