My boo has had a phenomenal season and I just wanted to see what you guys thought about this. If the Phillies made the playoffs I'd say he's definitely one of the top three candidates:
4th in BA (.337) 1st in 2B (41 - on pace to break record) 2nd in R (75) T-1st in RBI (81) 2nd in H (131) 1st in TB (229) 5th in OPS/SLG (.998/.589) 6th in OBP (.409) 17 Homers Great fielder Only missed one game this season
I'd be really interested in seeing what you guys think of this argument. In many cases he is second only behind a teammate of his.

#2 VORP in the NL, and with Hanley now day-to-day with a separated shoulder he has a chance to make up some ground. Cabrera has been catching up though lately and is just 0.4 runs behind. Those three have put some big distance between everyone else in the NL, and I think Chipper is #4 but he has missed some games.
Offensive production speaks for itself, especially coming from the 2B position. I'm a big sabrmetric guy, and I have to agree that second behind Hanley is where he deserves to be with a chance to pass him depending on how many games Ramirez misses.

Ramirez no doubt is filthy, he's also five years younger than Utley - but the voters are so set on voting for the guy whose team makes it to the playoffs (except last season w/ Howard) that he probably won't sniff the top five.

True, and voters also look for power numbers more than anything, which are hard to accumulate as the lead-off man in a big pitcher's park. Utley has as good a chance as anyone with Fielder fading pretty quickly and the #1 and #3 NL VORPs playing for a small market fourth place team. Chipper Jones has also made a strong case for himself.

Stupid rookie pitcher. I watched it happen. You knew something was up when he actually showed he was hurt. That's alright he's the toughest player on the team and will be back.

Yeah he did. He said the break wasn't that bad and that he would be out only 17-20 days. I may have to make Ryan Howard my temporary boo.

Ohh, your a pimp! It probably will just depend on how quick it heals and how badly/quick the Phillies will need him back and whether they try to be patient or rush his return. He is having one hell of a season though.

I don't know, I think Chase will remain my boo unless Howard keeps hitting home runs then I may have to jump ship and ride the bandwagon. As for his injury, I'm not too worried because he can play through a lot of pain, that's why it was really disappointing to see him grimacing.

I love lesbians! Damnit.
Well if we keep scoring 7/8 runs a game I don't mind.

I'm not going to jinx him like you did by making a new thread, so now that Utley is done for a month I'm going to do nothing but promote Hanley in this thread. 56.2 VORP. Utley's out of the picture, Cabrera 51.3, Chipper all the way down at 46.0.

So are the Phillies going to do the Cubs a favor and let us sweep? Or atleast win on Monday, since that the 15 Cubs games I've been to we have yet to win once...
PS: David, you're my new hero, I <3 Thrice.

Yeah you're guareteed a victory if Cole Hamels picthes. We score 7-10 runs for every other pitcher, but only show him 2-3 runs of support.

Great pitching matchup to look forward too.

Root for the Phillies. Somehow we have won eight of nine. I think our hot streak may end though when we face a decent team.

Hamels was untouchable and I run my streak to 0-16....
On a side note I think Pat Burrell was getting ticked of with Left Field, lol.
