sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2225316There's not much of a story anywhere yet, it seems to have just happened. If you look at ESPNews, it's there. This is huge. The Ducks haven't been anywhere near the team that went to the finals since 2003, and this trade is a sign, at least to me, that the Ducks are preparing to clean house. Tyler Wright is a decent player, and I haven't heard of this Beauchemin guy, but this is not the kind of exchange I'd expect for a player like Federov. I expect Giguere to leave, possibly to Tampa, since they have a pretty good young goalie (can't remember his name).

I believe Bryzgalov is the goalie in Anaheim, but this is steal for Columbus. Unfortunately, the Blue Jackets aren't going far either without Rick Nash...

I agree in the sense that this is a steal. Beauchemin isn't going to be a star and Wright is a role-player at best. But I don't think that Columbus is good enough overall to make anything out of this, at least not without Rick Nash.

When Nash comes back the tandem of Federov and Nash will be insane. That is if Federov decides to show up for the first time in 3 years.

COlumbus made a big mistake with fedorov, fedorov is payed 6 000 000/year plus Rick Nash's salary plus Adam Foote's salary
they are in BIG trouble

I mean think about it, Foote doesn't have many years left, and niether does Federov really. They aren't paying Denis a ton of money, and most teams' salary takes a hit from a high paid goaltender. This move does not make Columbus a contender, which is what makes this move very puzzling to me, but they might be able to sneak into the playoffs with some luck.

I disagree, sprew. He is that good, but he has the Randy Moss complex: he doesn't put forth the consistent effort. He's as talented as they come and he certainly makes the Jackets better, but its a puzzling move because this does NOT make them contenders in any sense of the word.

Hey now. That's not true. Ilya Kovalchuk, Nikolai Zherdev, Alexander Ovechkin, Alex Mogilny are just a few great russian players that have heart and play the game right. I agree that alot of Russian born players don't seem to have their hearts into it, but not all Russians are the same. Those Kovalchuk, Zherdev and Ovechkin have great careers ahead while Mogilny has had a pretty good one.
