I don't know much about international hockey, but from what I have read or heard I'd have to agree with Sep. Canada is greatly favored for the gold, and the US is expected to finish maybe 4th tops. They should go back to 80' and just put together a whole bunch of college boys, and work them so hard that they would hate themselves if they didn't win. Or all the hockey players that play in the NHL and make there living in this country should play for it.

Also, look at Mike Knuble.

why should Canadians have to play for the US? Cause the NHL (there employer) was formed in the U.S. I'm sorry Sep, I think you're a good guy, but this is by far the dumbest thing ever posted. Please, think about any sport in the world (soccer, basketball, etc...), why would an athlete have to play for the U.S or Canada because they work here. Do you have any clue what would happen to the NHL? Nobody from Europe would come, knowing they can't represent Finland or Sweden or whatnot come Olympics time. Fantastic soccer players play in the English Premiership...does that mean they're gonna suit up for team England come World Cup time? What about basketball? You think Tony Parker's gonna play for the U.S? Dirk? Is he he gonna put on the red, white and blue? That statement you made was so ludicrous, please, don't get me going any further. Think before you speak next time.

Also, look at Mike Knuble. The only reason Knuble is on the team is because Joe Thornton and Glen Murray saved his career. Secondly, the U.S. will be lucky to finish with a medal. I think Canada over the Czech's seems likely, with Sweden/Finland taking bronze. I think even the Slovak's might be better than us this year. Tomas Vokoun makes them dangerous.

what about Russia? They are always dangerous despite the fact that Canada traditionally owns them. I mean with Kovalchuk (sp?), Kovalev, and Ovechkin they have some pretty good scoring touch. Now all they need is someone who isn't a pussy, although I'll hand it to Ovechkin he is one bad Russian.

I'm fairly sure that Alexei Kovalev isn't playing for the Russian team.

. I think even the Slovak's might be better than us this year. Tomas Vokoun makes them dangerous. Tomas Vokoun is from Czech Republic. Hasek and Vokoun are the Czech Goalies. Slovakia's problem is that they need a top notch goalie. Peter Budaj and Jan Lasek are the top golaies for them none of which are making a huge splash in the NHL like Vokoun, and Kipper. The Slovaks are fast but not alot of tough guys on the team the toughest players I think are Chara and Handzus. Players like Gaborik and Marian Hossa and Pavol Demitra will run the offense but the defense isn't great and the goalies are sub-par. But will always root for the Slovaks with my gaborik jersey on. also... HEJA SVERIGE too (or GO SWEDEN)

I hate you sometimes, I really do. Honest mistake though, thinking Vokoun was a slovak.
