Well in hopes of giving hockey some publicity on this board, I'm making this topic, because frankly, the hockey playoff race is looking much more exciting than the NBA's. You've got the Flyers pushing the Rangers for the 3 seed while there's a 3-way tie for 6th in both conferences that could heavily determine which of those teams make it to the 2nd round. Also, Colorado and Calgary are tied for 1st in their division, which may determine home ice advantage in the 1st round against whomever they play.
So feel free to post any comments/predictions/news etc. that you feel relevant to the end of the NHL regular season... and go Sabres!

I wouldn't be too surprised, especially if it is against Nashville. As long as Dallas doesn't make it, I'll be excited. Of course, Detroit and Dallas are the two hottest teams in the league right now...

I think the Flyers can make a deep run. See, the FLyers slump has been against a lot of crap teams, but yet we can still beat some really good teams, Ottawa, Rangers, Carolina.

Haha! If you guys dont win the division, there's no way your beatin Buffalo. 0-3 this year against us. A lot of people are saying that Buffalo is as good as Carolina, and have a real strong chance at beating Ottawa in the 2nd round. But I will say that if Nitti gets hot in goal, and Forsberg and Gagne are clicking, it's not going to be fun playing 3-5 games against you guys...

Yeah I know. Forseberg and Gagne both have spent time being injured. If they are healthy, that helps a lot. Unfortunatley, injuries have hurt the Flyers a lot, but we have a great farm club.

I think I'm going to have to agree with Freak. Forsberg has a history of being an absolute beast in the playoffs and there's no reason to say he won't do it again. He's played hurt in the playoffs before and I'm sure he'll do it again. If he puts in the type of performance that he usually does in the post-season, he'll take the flyers on his back and take them far.

If the Flyers win their division, I think they have a great shot to win the East. If either Esche or my favorite player Niittymaki gets hot, they have the offensive firepower to go places. But, if they don't win the division, they wont have any momentum at all and will be looking at another early end to their season.

You mean your farm team WAS great. It's garbage now that they're all on the Flyers, unless you meant it that way... And Cats, I don't even think the Flyers have to win the division. As long as they get hot at the end of the season (the Rangers can stay hot too), it won't matter, since Buffalo has been struggling a bit lately...

Leafs are dead. There's always next year. And I heard someone say that Mike Richards and Jeff Carter were the best rookies in the league. It's too bad a kid named Ovechkin has more talent than both combined.

ok maybe not combined but there is no way Carter or Richards is better the Ovechkin, they arent even in the top 5 of the top rookies this year Here's my list
1. Ovechkin 2. Phanuef 3. Crosby 4. Henrik Lundqvist 5. Peter Prucha

I know that Phanuef has had a great season (my fantasy team knows first hand), but come on, give Crosby SOME props. He's very hard to like, but 33 goals (2nd among rookies) and 50 assists (1st) is pretty sweet for a rookie. I'll take him over Phaneuf, even if he is tied for 2nd overall in goals for a defensemen.
Oh, and even though he's been hurt, I'd still take Svatos over Prucha. He could have easily had a 40 goal season, had he not missed those 10 or so games...
As far as goalies go, I guess Lundqvist is doing the best, but my biased view is that Ryan Miller is better. Nittimaki and Emery have been doin real good too, but they don't fit in the top 5...

Well, Carter & Richards are both playing great. I think you would be able to put them in the top 5 of a two rookie combo.

They need to. I think the Flyers need that 3 seed a lot.

They might be able to take the 4 seed if Buffalo keeps losing 7-0. But seriously, we get the Maple Leafs again, the Sens, Flyers, Canes, and Canadiens to end the year. All playoff teams except for the Monday game against Toronto who just killed us...

That game was ugly! I saw the highlights, 5-0 in the first period, sounds like a cause for concern to me. I still think Philly needs the 3 seed tho.
