That is one of the first things you learn, keep your head up. I am a Flyers fan, I didnt like the hit, but it's the game. In no way was it an unnessacary hit. You go out there and play with intensity. Just the way the game is played.

Also, I hope Umberger comes back and plays in this series at some point, he is a good young player and it would be a shame for him to miss out on his chance at playing in the playoffs.

Good, clean hit. I have nothing against Umberger, but he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he got what happens to anyone when that happens. It's simply part of the game.
And bsktballr, you're saying that Buffalo is bad for showing the clip 5-6 times? Who's fans cheered when Michael Irvin got his career ended? How is this any different?
And damn, what a game. 6-1 Buffalo now. Go Sabres!

Well, I don't think the big screen guy at the Vet showed the clip a ton of times. That was wrong of the Sabres people showing the clip over and over.

It was still a clean hit though. I guess I see where this is all coming from, because the guy did get hurt, which is wrong to show, but a hit is part of the game, and injury or no injury, it shifts the momentum of the game for the players AND the fans...

I really don't get what the complaint was about the hit in the first place and bsktballr, I may be missing your point. You claimed the hit was "dirty" and "unneccessary" when it was neither. What was the point of the complaint?

To be honest, I thought a lot of our hits in Game 2 were unnecessary, although it seemed like Ben Eager was the only one out there wanting to win tonight.
And as for the hit on Umberger, I still think it was a little too rough. That's just my opinion, and I'll continue to believe that it was a cheap shot.

Hate to bring steroids and stuff into this, but doesn't that encompass cheating?

Oh yeah, two Flyers were ejected tonight for being too rough. Just thought I'd bring that up, as it seems officiating has been completely lopsided thus far in the series. Buffalo simply outplayed us in Game 2, but Game 1 ... not so much.

Hey, Briere got leveled by the ref that night I know the officiating does seem lopsided, but I think they decided that the refs want to start taking back control of the game, and it just happened that Gauthier or whatever his name is was the first to deliver an unneccesary hit. But these refs I guess are just under a lot of pressure to make close calls. All those strange hook calls are technically hooks, but they normally wouldn't call them. Philly needs to adjust...
