it makes sense but I don't see why any teams have to change conferences

As long as it cures the timezone problem I think it is good. I think Pittsburgh leaves their timezone about 4 times this year with other teams having to leave more.

Pittsburgh might be moving anyway, so this might all be moot.

Yeah, this makes a lot of sense, considering COLUMBUS IS FURTHER WEST THEN FRIGGIN ATLANTA... In case you haven't noticed, over half of the teams in the league are in EST. The "West" isn't half the time all that far West either... And Freak, this won't likely change anything about going out of the timezones. The NHL already addressed that they will be staying put with teams in the East going out West only a handful of times. It's not just the Pens either, it's just they were the ones brought up because Crosby and Malkin were tearing it up, and they realized half the teams out West didn't even get to have them play in their arena. I know Buffalo doesn't play a single good Western Conference team on the road this year...

I think the alignment is fine, they just need to fix the damn scheduling. Think of the fans that would be drawn to games in the Western Conference just to see Sid, Malkin, Alex, etc. play and vice versa with the talent out west.

The Red Wings played Toronto this year for the first time in like 3 years. That's pretty ridiculous.

they are also going to change the schedule so that each team plays at least one game in every other team's city. Other than that I think this is one of the worst ideas the NHL has had. I dont know why but I just dont like it flat out.
