so I rented 07 for a couple weeks and I finished the first season of a dyn. The contracts in the game are retarded. Noone and I mean noone has an expiring contract after the season their was a grand total of 5 free agents were the best overall was 62. It was ridiculous. For some reason everyone who had a 1 year contract in real life was given a 2 year contract in the game. It was really dumb.
I played as the oilers and after a few trades I got Wade Redden, Scott Hannan, and Petr Bondra. I had a pretty sick team, finished second in the regular season and then beat Pittsburgh for the Cup. Anyway after the season Scott Hannan (who's potential is like 94) went from an 81 to a 75. It was really weird. Anyway anyone else have issues with the franchise mode.

yeah I went 52-13-13 or something like that. and the only reason I was that bad was because I simmed alot and because at the start I was really bad and lost 5 of my first 7.

I don't know what the qualifications for being a rookie are, but Ryan Miller started 48 games last season and is still a rookie. Paul Gaustad played 78 games last season too and he's a rookie as well.
Is this just becauase EA was too lazy to put in the majority of this year's rookie class, so they just filled them with 2nd and 3rd year guys as well?

I think they dont have the rookies because when they make the game they aren't part of the NHLPA. So they can't have the rookies. However, in the case of the oilers, they dont have major prospects like rob schremp, ladislav smid (who is turining out to be great), and Devan Dubnyk. EA is just stupid sometimes. Although I like the gameplay of the 360 better than the PS2.

Exactly, the rookie thing is a bit like MLB games. They have to have a game played to be in video games (not so much anymore in baseball, they changed it somehow). Rookies have to play one game in the NHL to be in a video game, but I forget how many games it takes for them to bump up. Hannu Toivonen is a rookie IRL, and he played a whole bunch last year.

It's like 25 games. Once you hit that mark, you aren't a rookie anymore.

It is easy...I used the Black Hawks and went 30-1 on superstar, does anyone know any good sliders to make it more difficult.

I know this is going to make some people mad but someone might want to ask at Dynasty Manager for sliders. They seem to have a lot more NHL dynasties over there. I would love to do an NHL dynasty, but I don't have NHL '07. I know, I suck.

To my knowledge, any adjustments are made for both teams, meaning you can't increase CPU skills without increasing your own. If I play, it's either with a European dynasty or online. If I really want to play with an NHL team against the CPU, then I play 06, which I have updated rosters for the beginning of this year. It's not as good, but at least it's even..

That's one thing I hope they improve big-time for '08 is the difficulty. Also, improve the FA class. In 05 (I think) there was always 2-3 solid to great FA's. But the last 2 years, they've blown.
