Does anyone else agree that Pittsburgh should remain a hockey town? It would be terrible to see a team go to Kansas City after leaving a town like Pittsburgh.

I'm still hoping for the Quebec Red Bulls.

Completely and utterly agree. I think alot people forget/don't know about the past failures of hockey in Kansas City (Scouts) and Pittsburgh is a hockey town with good history that just needs a new building. Pittsburgh could be missing out on ALOT if they don't keep the pens in town. Crosby looks like he's only going to improve and between him, Malkin, Staal, Ryan Whitney, MA Fleury and the rest of the crew, Pittsburgh could be a special place to be.

That is true. How many kids in Missouri are out there playing hockey? I can see Turnin with his skates on.

Does 'gangsta' even describe it? He is a new breed of hardcore ghetto lifestyle representation.

I know a couple pitt fans and they can care less about the pens, all they want to talk about is the steelers and their five superbowls.

It's a shame because they have a great young team there and we won't hear bitching till the trucks are pulling out of town. The NHL needs to prevent this from happening.

If there's a team in Texas and two teams in Florida, why can't Missouri have one? Kansas City makes more sense as a hockey town than Tampa Bay, Nashville, Dallas, or Atlanta.
And I'm speaking as an impartial observer here.
Plus, it's all about business here - the Sprint Center has offered free rent, which is a major sell right now to the Penguins brass.

Does KC have a pro hockey team? I know Wichita has had their CHL team for a long time, but I don't remember KC being in the AHL, CHL, etc.
Way off topic but Houston would be good for a hockey team. I'd love to see SA get one but they couldn't support one - Houston could though. Houston is starting to get their youth programs up and running - they'd be like Dallas, which yielded a pretty strong HS hockey system after a few years of the Stars. OKC could even support one in the Ford Center, but it's too close to Dallas.... but all of this leads to my one golden flaw which bothered me growing up - living in the 8th largest city in the country and having only one pro team.

I personally think if the team has to relocate, they should go to Canada. Several markets could support a new team and the fans practically foam at the mouth about hockey, which is what a new team needs to get going (something Atlanta, Nashville, Anaheim, among others, never had).
Although, like I said earlier, they shouldn't leave. I'm not a pens fan at all and it would honestly pain me for them to leave because I feel the league would be heading in a bad direction. They need to do what it takes to keep the Pens in town. Plain and simple.

But they disbanded not because of fan support because of the IHL disbanding.
