Who else is excited for this wonderful event?
Liked Spain to finally overcome the hump but they looked terrible today against the US. Cannavaro's injury is huge for Italy. No England. Definately an interesting tournament.

I haven't the faintest clue who I'm going to be putting my money on.

Portugal and the Netherlands intrigue me. The Netherlands is in a tough group with France and Italy though. Germany and Croatia should have a fairly straightforward group. Portugal as well. Interested to see what happens in Group D. Spain should advance. Greece are the defending champs. And both Sweden and Russia have some very good players.

I haven't looked at the draws at all but I'm looking forward to good competition - though I was even more excited because I thought all of the games were being broadcast in HD but it looks like a majority of them are on espn classic... still better than nothing, in 2004 all of the games were on PPV

I've decided to throw my hat in Portugal's corner. They just have so much attacking power. Deco, Nani, Simao, Quaresma, Moutinho, and of course Ronaldo. They also have Bosingwa, Pepe, Meira, Veloso, Carvalho, and Miguel on defense.
They are so talented on paper. Interesting to see whether they can put it together.

Zlatan is a lazy piece of ****. Could be a world-beater. Kim Kallstrom is very good. I've always loved Henrik Larsson although he is quite past it now.

I lied - looks like only 5 of the... what... 31?... games are on ESPN-classic - so hopefully the ESPN/ESPN2 games will be in HD. I could have sworn I read all (maybe most) of them would be in America.

Cannavaro's injury is huge for Italy. If anyone has the depth to replace a player like him on the back line its Italy. It definitely sucks, but I dont think its as huge as everyone makes it to be. I think I'll be rooting for Holland and Spain. They have the most players I like. Well, besides England.

yeah if they make sudden rule changes so that its played on ice, the players are given sticks, and the ball is replaced with a puck

Rooting for Italy and Portugal in this one. Ronaldo's netting one today, no question.

Seriously, I will always support whoever is playing against Italy and Portugal, it's too beautiful a game for it to be ruined by such pathetic displays.
For the record, while I have no idea who I think will win, I am a big supporter of the Netherlands in European play.

Yeah I dont see how anyone can root for Italy either. Unless your Italian I guess. I hope Holland and France beat the piss out of them.

Bitter much?
I'm rooting for Portugal strictly for Ronaldo. Italy because yes, I am Italian.
Someone's gotta root for the bad guys, I guess that's me. I wouldn't mind seeing Germany take it either and they've probably got a pretty good shot.

Germany and Portugal have the best shots I'd say.
Since Group A/B are linked and Group C/D are, basically the only two threats in A and B are Portugal and Germany, but in C/D you have Italy, Holland, France, Spain, Greece(?).
