Because saying anything bad about the Messiah is racist and unfair. All your free speech are belong to us. Its because he had to take race into it. There have been many things said negative about Obama in this thread and others on this board but they all didn't go as far as taking race NEGATIVELY into it. It was in poor taste and it wasn't needed what so ever, you can say what you want but by throwing his race into it for no reason it stupid, childish and very disrespectful to not only President-Elect Obama but to other African Americans. I don't find it a joke, I find it a stupid comment. Just by saying oh its a joke doesn't make everything better.. say what you want about what I just said but that's how I feel. I don't care what you say.

What the hell is so bad with what Spartan said? A lot of ya'll need to lighten the hell up, its a damn joke. Because some people view it as offensive and tasteless. I never heard of that joke before and maybe if you were black and or an Obama supporter then you'd view it in a different way.

We elected someone so many of us see as a popular figure, not a political figure. There's a reason for that. The President of the United States is not supposed to be a rock star (or a Barackstar...). He's not supposed to be "so cool". There has never been an election where the vast majority of the votes had absolutely nothing to do with politics. Perhaps a few of you knew what you were voting for but from what I read, saw, etc. the people that voted for Obama, black or white, had no reason other than just because he was black or because he was depicted as this "cool" individual who was destined to save this country.
The opposite's going to happen and iwhen 2010 rolls around, we're gonna be regretting what we did. I don't care how smart the man is...

What the hell is so bad with what Spartan said? A lot of ya'll need to lighten the hell up, its a damn joke. Because some people view it as offensive and tasteless. That is exactly what I felt was wrong with it. The Obama factor does not even matter. It is the fact that he offended respected members of this forum with that statement. He stereotyped those members political views because of their skin tone. As for Obama, I think he has the poetential to do a sufficient job as President. However, we have very little to base a claim like that on. He still has a great amount of things to prove to us (as would John McCain if he won). I do feel Obama's win had a lot to do with a hype factor and less to do with crucial issues. With both candidates, they were never really questioned. We simply accepted what was given to us. Neither candidate fully had what it takes to garner the position in my opinion. An Obama victory I feel does help the image of our country on the world stage. It could crumble if his inexperience shows, no doubt. That is not to say McCain's would have been terrible, but I feel it really depends on what McCain we would have there. If it was the John McCain that spoke last night, it would have been great. Regarding his race, I do feel that it needs to be recognized that an African American has reached the nation's top office. Less than half a century ago African American citizens struggled to vote and see equality on the most basic issues in life. This shows that our nation is making forward progress with so many people supporting this man for our presidency. I have yet to hear anyone say a thing about an African American man being in office, which is a substantial plus. The criticism I hear is because of his positions, which is the best. If anyone calls someone a racist for constructively arguing against Obama, then they need to look at themselves and their racial views. If anyone makes a statement about Obama that includes they are not racist, then they need to look at themselves and their racial views. Arguments for and against this man's presidency have little to do with his race. Overall, with my beliefs, I am glad Barack Obama won. I did not vote for either him or John McCain yesterday. I could not honestly vote for either one of those candidates with the extreme questions of their ability to handle the presidency. However, most of Obama's plans do benefit me and are in line with my political views. I think it is extremely important when we have less than ideal candidates that we still push and question the winner even after they have taken office. We must be extremely critical of anyone who holds one of the most important jobs in our country. To add, a lot of people voted for change with Obama. Change did not end at the polling booth yesterday. Change is continuous. Change the way you want something different but do nothing for it. Change the pattern of your voting. Change the way you go about expressing your political views. Barack Obama cannot alone bring change, it is on everyone. You committed to change with him, do not quit now.

Senate races for a moment....
Convinced felon Ted Stevens looks like he's going to win reelection in Alaska.
Gordon Smith might pull off a surprise victory in Oregon. It'll be close.
Also, Coleman beat Franken by between 500 and 800 votes, depending on which site you look at. That one's headed for recounts.

Stealing this from someone because I agree with it.
Not even Jesus could satisfy all the expectations of Obama's most vocal supporters, or fulfill all the promises Obama has made.
I think Obama is going to turn out to be the worst president since Carter, and for the same reason: good intentions do not guarantee good results. Idealists often stub their toes on the wayward rocks of reality, and fall on their faces. And the world doesn't respond to benign behavior benignly.
But there's another reason why: Obama has been hiding his light under a basket. A lot of people bought a pig in a poke today, and now they're going to find out what they bought. Obama isn't what most of them think he is. The intoxication of the cult will wear off, leaving a monumental hangover.
And four years from now they'll be older and much wiser.

Wow. I never meant to offend anyone. I know we have black people on this board. I thought they would just laugh it off. Jesus. I figured as long as I didn't call someone from the board that it would be okay, but wow. I thought it was better than PM'ing blaze or chis saying "hey your a n****". Hell, a black kid told me the joke. He was dying.
Joker, good for you. I'm glad you don't have any respect for me, cuz really, I don't know you and you don't know me. Why do I give a shit about you? Really, how did this joke affect you? Do share.
Really, I don't get what was so bad. I'm not calling him a terrorist like half the people. I'm not saying he's going to get assassinated because he's black. Why aren't you getting mad at those people? They aren't joking. They really believe that bullshit. I'm not criticizing him for having the middle name Hussien for christ's sake.
You know what's bad about Obama being elected? Because everytime someone is going to criticize him, someone is going to bring fucking race into it. "Oh that's racist that white congressman are coming after him like that." Deny it, but you know it's going to happen. Jesse Jackson and Rev Sharpton will be all over this shit for the next 4 years.
And freak, how am I stereotyping members of this board? One thing was bad with that statement, one that I can think of. People are offended by the N word. But how did I stereotype anything?
Come Help Me Get Elected. Take away the N word and how is that a stereotype?
Definition of stereotype: Blanket beliefs and expectations about members of certain groups that present an oversimplified opinion
How is come help me get elected, basically what the joke is saying, how is that a stereotype. White people help their candidate get elected don't they?

FWIW I wasn't offended when he said that.. I don't care really, it's a message board. And lol @ them saying "Lighten up it's a damn joke".. uhh I thought this was a message board not a web cam.. maybe I was laughing (was not, but u catch my drift.. ya dig?) when i read it, you never know, you just see words on a screen.
And yeah I can understand Blake's point about people using it in different taste and I can understand him being upset about it, just like I can understand all you who think it's just a joke.
Moving on.. My POV on the election is that Obama and McCain both suck, but Obama sucks less and he's different for once. To be 100% honest, If Obama wasn't black I think there wouldn't have been such a big deal of everybody voting for him, but he's black so we're stuck with it. And I think Obama is going to look decently long term, because I mean look at what he has to follow up.. Not exactly the best man.

So Obama got 95% of the black vote.
Imagine the cries if 95% of whites had voted for mccain.

But how did I stereotype anything? it prolly affected Joker because he's a huge Obama supporter. Saying that "joke" is a slap to the face of Obama supporters no matter the skin colour. IMO, the "joke" calls for people to elect Obama because he is black no matter what his platform. I'll admit, when I first read it I said "Damn, I didnt know Spartan was that big of an asshole" but I calmed down and threw that tension aside. Even though I'm black, I hate when the N word is used with no reguard towards the people who will read it. Even worse, I DESPISE when people say it propery...not in the ghetto way. By know, you should of known there were Obama supporters and a lil joke like that will not fly even though this is dynasty central. Your "joke" may be funny to immature individuals and to those who dont like Barack and his followers but it sure as hell wasnt funny to me, Joker, and anyone else on this board who didn't laugh. When you insult what some (joker in this case) believes in, of course he's going to lose all respect towards you.

As soon as McCain gets elected, he's going to die of old age I am deeply offended by this. Just because he's old doesn't mean he will die in office. Stereotype! C'mon, seriously blaze? Are you really that offended by this? I could understand you not thinking it's funny, but really? Because I thought it was funny I'm immature and I hate Obama?
