I do want to say the city of Hazleton is pretty lame. They did not at all guide Spanish citizens to polling places, or provide proper assistance with voting. Few places had a translator on hand to help explain the voting process. Bullshit much. Does that surprise you? It was Hazleton man, they like led the whole anti-immigration thing in PA.

Over 80% of the population speaks english. The other 20% that come here can either learn to do the same or get the fuck out, it isn't our job to learn whatever the hell they speak and to help them when they know what to expect.

Though David's way of saying it may not be the best, I agree. The majority speaks English. if you want to live here, learn it.

Also, going back to Spartan's comment and the retort that it offends people of color and Obama supporters...I voted for the fucking guy and am not in the least bit offended. The sad truth is that this country is full of uptight, politically correct pussies who can't take a joke or have to poo-poo around anything race-related. It's a fucking joke.

I can see that but when it is people who are just learning English and you are not providing them with assistance it is pure bullshit.

People learning languages is a market thing, if they have to learn they will. If not, then they stay poor and disinfranchised.

Yeah, you're wrong. Blacks go Democrat at a huge clip anyway, so really only a small number were swayed to Obama because he was black. They were there anyway. There probably would have been less voters, but not much. The Dems were energized as is and the GOP was not and never got that way. There are more minorities now than four years ago and people from every background were more energized for this election as compared to 2004. Its not just black (although that helped significantly in terms of how many showed up to vote), but all minorities. CNN exit polls has 6% more blacks voting democrat (89-95) 12% more latinos 6% more asian 14% more other non-white They also report just over 127M votes counted with 26% minority, so 33.1M minority voters roughly. 2004 saw 23% minority voters overall and about 120M total votes, so about 28M minority voters. That's nearly a 20% increase in turnout. There are more minorities this time around, and more people from every background energized for this election. The number comparision is nearly worthless imo.

more people from every background energized for this election. Thats the whole point though. All these people are energized just because it's a minority candidate.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRqcfqiXCX0Republicans weren't the only ones who lost last Tuesday... America lost! oh and chill out with spartan its just some "clever" play on the word he heard somewhere. when i first heard it i laughed, not because it could be racist, but because it's clever like that. i guess it also didn't hurt that my black friend told it to me first. but seriously, if you're offended by that you got issues

If you can't figure out where you are supposed to be voting or who the fuck is on the ballot because you can't read the fucking thing then you're ass is not smart enough to vote... get the fuck outta here with that bullshit.

Nah I'm sorry, if you can't at least translate simple English words when you go to vote, you shouldn't be voting because there's little possibility you even comprehend what you're voting for (though that clearly doesn't matter anymore after this past election). We make enough sacrifices as it is to accommodate people from foreign countries with Spanish/French/even Chinese now translations for so much.
Learn the language, it's hard but it's worth it. We shouldn't have to learn THEIR language for them when they live here and yes, like 99% of the country speaks English and it's been that way since...America's existed, think it's fair to see English is the official language of America.

There are words that come up that even people who speak this language don't understand when they go into the voting booth. In this day and age, you can get information on politicians in any language. People of other languages can easily understand a politician's stance with technology. Not to mention in an extremely high profile election such as this election past.
I am not saying that we need to learn their language either. I am saying if we expect them to live by our standards of language, help them learn. How many bi-lingual people are in this country? Honestly, is it really bad for these citizens to have help in voting correctly? Should we just let them go in and vote by themselves and vote for the wrong person? Wait no, we will just deny U.S. Citizens democracy altogether.
If you don't know the language and are not making any effort to learn, that is one thing. However, i am making a point for those actively trying to be someone who can work better in this society by learning the most widely used language. Do they not deserve help? Seems pretty bad when we deny help to those who actively try but let dead beats in this country get by pretty easily at times.

We should just put all United States electoral ballots in Esperanto so everyone is on the same plane.
