I believe this is the list of schools you can start with in career mode (pulled this from another site):
Nicolls St. Campbell Bethune-Cookman Navy VMI Morgan St. Dartmouth Lipscomb W. Illinois Howard Norfolk St. Grambling Jackson St. Alcorn St. Long Island Albany Charl. Southern Alabama A&M Radford Texas Southern

that sounds like a pretty biased opinion. Have you played both games? Yes, I have. The only reason I even still have MM is because of online play (friend has it).

I seemed to remember that it's pretty much the same list, though, every time you start one up.

I absolutely love CH2k5...especially after having the horrid MM last year that was painfully slow between non-gameplay screens.
With CH2k5 you get all the stats you can handle (you can even look back on stats from games you played at the beginning of the season..very cool), short game recaps of the last game you played (along with a "SportsCenter" type highlight), and the gameplay is the absolute best I've ever experienced in a basketball game.
Pretty much the only thing I don't really like about CH2k5 is that the CPU rarely ever misses from the free throw line on the higher difficulties. Other than that, not much tinkering with sliders is needed to have an exciting game. I'd also like to have the option to play other games (kind of like EA does in NCAA Football and Madden), which would be fun to do in the NCAA Tourney or for games like Duke/UNC.

Does anyone know what the difficulty "MOP" stands for? It appears to be the highest in the list and that's what I normaly play on. But I do see teams miss free throws (and I miss a ton). They shoot probably 75% from the line against me. One thing about the gameplay; there are an rediculously high number of intercepted outlet passes. You basically have to dribble the ball up court to avoid a steal, and the CPU has to do the same to avoid one from you. It is really easy to time the stealing of passes.

I think 'MOP' stands for Most Outstanding Player.
What difficulty does everybody play on? Should a newbie like me start with the default settings?

Well I don't have a PS2, but I like to start and save a lot of dynasties, so I'd go with the XBox (because of the harddrive)

No, not a career. You can start an Open Legacy, which gives you the option of choosing any team. Career and Open legacies are different.

I might buy it since you guys are saying its better then MM. I have MM and like it a lot. The only thing I dont like about and I think somebody already stated this is the 3 point shooting. If your player does not have a "3" by his name them chances are slim to none that he is going to make a 3. Is that diffrent with ESPN or is it the same?

I got it on XBox. I hope the three point shooting is a little more realistic. And yes the reason I bought it on XBox is because of the hard drive

3 point shooting is nice, VERY realistic. If you don't get a good look, chances are it isn't going in. I've missed alot of perfect-timed open 3's too, but I use BC and they don't have many shooters outside of Dudley.

just wanted to add something.... the gameplay for MM on xbox is fine.... from what I understand, MM is THE EA game where you can REALLY tell the difference between xbox and ps2

Ok...keep in mind this is after only one night of playing. There is a lot involved in this game, which isn't a bad thing, but it sure slows down your progress through the season. The gameplay is cool, but here are a couple of questions I have.
Is the game really hard or just really realistic? I chose the career mode and selected Alabama A&M in that list of teams and in my first game I got absolutely routed by Birmingham Southern by 30 points. I started off the season 0-3...anyone else have the same luck at the beginning of the season?
I thought about starting a legacy with Texas A&M Corpus Christi, but wondered if you can ever get invited to join a conference as an independent? Because it will be highly unlikely that I will ever get a dance ticket as an independent, so being an independent would only be fun for a short while.
Is the key to recruiting the campus visit? It seemed that the players interest in my school jumped by a huge margin after visiting my campus.

I'd have to say it is just because it is realistic. For each team you get a scouting report. If it says you are big underdogs, chances are slim to none that you will upset them. If you are evenly matched it should be a well played game. If you hold the upper hand there is still about a 30% chance that you will get upset, and if the email says the opponent is a "cupcake" on your schedule, you will almost never lose.
From what I have seen, you cannot get invites to other conferences. However, you can always get hired by a new team. I've done career mode dynasties where I have gone through three or four teams.
The keys to recruiting are scholarship offers and campus visits. Scholarship offers probably have the biggest impact on the player's intrest (and why wouldn't they?). They can jump a player from low interest to medium, from medium to high, and from high to very high (especially with guys with fewer stars or guys late in the offseason recruiting period). Campus visits pretty much seal the deal. If you do all your recruiting right before your campus visit, and have a scholarship offered to the guy, a campus visit will normaly jump his interest enough to have him sign with you. I try to get my guys to have a campus visit before the inseason signing week and during the first week of the offseason.
