I know there were worse drafts, but I, personally, thought that it was not the smartest one. Yeah we need a good cover corner, but there are other posistions, in my mind, that they should have addressed.

Falcons take a DB outta Va Tech for the 2nd time in the past 3 drafts, and we all can see how the first one worked out. I hope Jimmy turns out really good, he has the potential. Also, FINALLY, a Bulldog on the the roster!
*Actually, I guess Shockley is the 2nd Bulldog on the roster, some DE Josh Mallard attended UGA, but ive never even heard of him*

There's always June 1st cuts to look forward to if you don't like how your team ended up doing. There's bound to be a few good players let loose.

Jamar Williams, I think, has the ability to make a big impact on the Bear's defense. Hunter Hillenmeyer was good at times, but had a knack for missing some big tackles. Briggs, Urlacher, and Williams should be a very good LB corps.
My top drafts would probably go to these teams in order: 1) Eagles 2) Titans 3) 49ers

We don't need WR's, Berrian has develpoed into a possession reciever after being labeled as nothing but a speed guy. (Did you see him come alive nearing the end of the season, the guy took big hit after big hit and held onto the ball against the Packers, and Panthers.) Berrian has become our deep threat. Gage came alive at the end of the season as well, and showed alot of promiss as a rookie. Bradley is solid already, going back to his preseason he torn everyone up, and while he did see limited time in the regular season, what I saw from him was great, they guy made alot of hard catches look easy.
And we still have Moose.
I agree some what though, we passed up an oppertunity on Pope, but we addressed the TE spot shortly after the draft, signing 2 undrafted and very serviceable TE's in Tim Day of Oregon, and Cooper Wallace from Auburn.
Overall the Bears filled some holes left from the offseason, we all know the Bears will probably never have a Colt-like offense, the Bears have always been a defensive team, so adding depth to a defense that needed it at the end of the year was a good move.

In other news, former George Mason power forward Jai Lewis signed a contract with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent. UConn reserve forward Ed Nelson also signed an NFL contract, signing with the St. Louis Rams.
Guess the Antonio Gates thing has teams looking for potential tight ends everywhere in NCAA basketball.

Haven't heard anything else about it, but see Barret Robbins.

How are you crying when you got Dusty? He is one of the best DT's available in the draft First, I'm not crying. Second, we have Tommie Harris, Alfanso Boone, and Ian Scott. All of those guys are very talented at their posistion. I'm not saying we needed a reciever either. I just think that we should of gotten a quality tight end or receiver who could return punts. I hope your not saying that D.Hester can't return punts. Did you even watch this guy; He is a really good punt and kick returner and I believe will make a big impact for the Bears and quick. Also yall got the best defensive player in the draft with Mark Anderson. With that last statement you can say im a little baised.

have you guys heard of them saying that the Texans passing on Bush is just like the Blazers passing on Jordan back in 84. I have a problem with this because even though it was quite stupid passing on th eplayer of Bush's caliber, you never know how productive Bush will be in 10 years, whereas Mario could be a top D-end like Freeney.
Comment?

I think Mario Williams will be another Courtney Brown. Drafted high but doesnt make a giant impact.

Everyone's saying that the Texans took Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan, but who's not to say they didn't take Hakeem Olajuwon instead of MJ? It's easy to blast the pick now, but what if Mario Williams ends up being a hall of fame player in his own right -- then is it such a bad pick?

-- then is it such a bad pick? Yes, cause even though they both might be hall of famers, Bush is on such another level he should have been the no brainer pick.

In that case, add this little bit into my hypothetical situation -- what if Williams is the anchor to a defense that gets the Texans to a Super Bowl one day, while the Saints never make it past the second round of the playoffs with Bush (like Barry Sanders and the Lions)? You're saying you still would rather have Bush?

Dude, individual players will not win you playoff games. Look at LeBron James right now in the NBA- he's scoring over 30 a night but his teammates arent scoring so well at all. His team will need to step up in order for the Cavs to advance. So if Bush and the Saints want to have success, they need a well balanced team.

Have any of them played an NFL game? No.
It is nice to have all these knee-jerk reactions, but why don't we wait to see what happens. There have been plenty of all-world talents not pan out and vice-versa. No one knows what will happen until it is past, which is part of the fun of the draft. However, nothing should be said as a truth.
Believe what you want, and it's fine to have your own beliefs. But the point is, no one knows. 10 years from now people may laugh at the notion of Bush going number 1. On the flip side, Mario Williams' name could be up there with the all-time busts; or somewhere in between in either scenario.

Whats not fair is that Mario Williams is going to be compared to Reggie Bush throught his whole career now and no matter what he does most likely Bush looks better than him with Bush as a runningback and Williams as a defensive end.

Yeah... Lions had a decent second day, I suppose. Scott and Matua were good picks. It's a shame they botched the first day by passing up Leinart.
