Latest word is that he has slipped into a coma following surgery.

This is really unfortunate. I mean it is when it happens to anyone, but at 24 this guy has so much ahead of him in not just his football career but his life. Hope he pulls through.

ESPNEWS reporting that Sean Taylor is now responsive, made facial expressions, and responded to doctors requests to squeeze his hand.

Anyone think this sounds a little fishy?
I hope he pulls through and everything's alright. He's a hell of an athlete and a good guy for the most part and even if he wasn't, you still never want anyone to die with such a great life ahead of them.

Apparently Taylor's house was broken into last week and someone left a knife on the bed. There's speculation he could have been targeted, especially seeing as how he's had some run-ins with people in the past.

I'm just not sure what to take of the story about some guy breaking in and shit. It's hard for me to believe that someone with as much money as Sean Taylor doesn't have any good security or anything.
The story could very well be true, I'd just look into the girlfriend first before deciding on something.

I agree with Loki. It reminds me of the Benoit thing in a way. Everyone felt bad for Benoit and then the true news came out. Taylor had to of done something for this to happen. But I wish the best of luck to him.

Miami is a bad area....if you wander around you'll end up in bad areas. Trust me. I drove in the wrong neighborhood without knowing until my friends told me to get out ASAP. Taylor can escape the hood and the ghettos of south beach but his ties remain strong. He has friends.....as well as foes.
it doesnt surprise me that he got shot but it's just weird how it happened. if it was a robbery, why wasn't anything taken? Where was his girlfriend at the time? Like Loki said, he's a millionaire so shouldnt he have some security? It just looks like a hit and run to me.

Seeing as the girlfriend was with him the entire time and was the one who called 911......
Apparently the phone lines were cut, and subsequently the burglar alarm went with it, or so I've heard. I honestly think it's a strong possibility that it was someone from Taylor's past who broke in and came only to harm Taylor and not take any property.

Dude's got millions of effin dollars and he plays in Washington D.C. so seriously...get the hell out of Miami! Buy a crib somewhere in the mountains of West Virginia or something but don't, as a million-dollar athlete, live in a shitty ass city like Miami, involve yourselves with the same morons that have gotten guys like Ray Lewis, Jamal Lewis, Michael Vick, and that scumbag Pacman Jones in trouble, and don't leave your life in the hands of that girlfriend of yours that I am really not trusting.

yeah i turned on the local news and Sean Taylor news was everywhere...my community was hit hard by this so everyone here is just stunned. I mean he was responsive to the doctors but couldn't make it. I hope the Redskins can still move on from this because, while watching the news, everyone at Redskins Park (their HQ) was sad. Seeing a human killed is one thing but seeing a young superstar football player killed is another.
RIP Sean
