28-46 FG 7-13 3PT 18-20 FT
Second-highest point total in NBA history behind Wilt Chamberlain (100).
I, uh, really don't know what to say.

I think the Mavs are off the hook for giving up 62 points in 3 quarters.
Anyway, who saw the Sonics/Suns game? It was 152 - 149 in 2OT!

Screw Kobe...god forbid he spreads the ball around and leads the team or something. Sorry but 81 points is a bit unnecessary, I hate him. Yes I know Smush had 13 but did you look at the rest of the team's points? I see this is going to be a guy I'm gonna be sick of watching for a long time until he learns how to score less than 35 in EVERY single game.

Basically...
The more shots Kobe makes: He shoots more.
The fewer shots Kobe makes: He shoots more.
Ridiculous.

I'm a big Kobe hater, but don't hate on what he did last night. Yeah he doesn't spread the ball around, but when you catch fire like that, and you're making them with 2 guys in your face and everything, you keep on shooting.
I would have loved it to be any player but him though...

I just get tired of turning on sportscenter every day and hearing that Kobe just put another 40 or 50 spot on someone. It gets boring. The Lakers won't win a championship, in my mind, until he learns that basketball is a team game, and he gets more players involved in the offense.
Does anyone else get the feeling that he's trying to prove something? I don't know why he would, but it's Kobe...who knows with him.

I'm also a Kobe hater, but that was just amazing, and very cool. Good for him.

OMG DAS SOOOOO UNREALISTIC IM RATE U A 1!!! Oh...this really happened? In all seriousness, if you watched the highlights of the game you'd see that his Lakers teammates were actually passing up open shots to get it to Kobe for him to shoot. You can't really blame him for going for 81 when he was that hot...seriously, the guy caught flak for sitting the last time he had 62 through 3 quarters and blew a shot at 80, so I doubt he was going to pass up this chance. There are maybe 2 or 3 times a season when you were as hot as Kobe was last night. With that said, he's still a prick.

Prick or not, I still respect Kobe for his game. I can give a crap less if you're the only star on your team and when you're given a chance to give away a game winning shot you pass it to Lamar Odom, who's an even bigger nut case than Kobe is.
Face it, he's the face of the franchise and ball hogs because he's the only one in purple and gold that will drop that game winning shot. I don't care if he scores 150 and doesn't pass the ball once, he's basically telling the rest of us that the Lakers are A) god awful like we all knew they were and b) that he's the best player i nthe league.
People go to Laker games to see one man shows, they don't go for the team. Some people like the team ball that the Spurs and Pistons play and others like one man shows. I think everybody's used to this Michael Jordan character doing everything in his power to win a game.
Enjoy it now, because we're watching one of the few pure gunners in the NBA left.

Very well said OGbrand I couldnt agree more. The other day Sportscenter asked a few NBA analysts who the most exciting player was and they all said Lebron and I was thinking wtf Kobe scores 40 points a game how could he not be exciting. Like you said Kobe will be one of the best the NBA's seen for a while.

P.S. I think people actually listen to Bill Simmons. He says something about Isaiah Thomas driving the Knicks into the ground and Thomas basically threatens him whenever he sees him. He tells us that Kobe was basically playing the Wolf in Teen Wolf when he scored 62 and everybody else was just pissed and Kobe goes out and scores 81.
I guess the Mamba is a great nickname.

They won the game. All that matters. And he shot over 60 %, so I wouldnt say he was taking too many shots to get points. Thats better than anyone else on the team could shoot.
