I know Bstn would agree with me, that the NBA is garbage now.
There is just no effort. There is like no defense at all. Which is why it's a perfect league for Adam Morrison.
So garbage or not? O yeah, if this topic needs to be moved go ahead...

The league has always been like it is now. Nothing has changed. Michael Jordan retires for the last time, the Bulls stop winning championships and a few teams take their place(L.A./SA/DET).
The league is no NFL lol, but it is still exciting. The good teams compete, and those games are exciting to watch. You know players play in the playoffs. If your from Atlanta or New York, than I could see your idea on this.
I'm a Pacer fan, so I have seen my share of ups and downs. I agree there are some fixins needed to be made, but its not garbaje to me.

No, it's not garbage. Of course these guys show effort. The Pistons and Spurs are teams that rely on defense to get them far, and it works. There's excitement, especially in the playoffs. There are issues with it, but garbage is a VERY strong word.
This ain't the Rex Grossman League.

All the NBA has become now-a-days is a rap contest.

The NBA has become more of an individual sport, this is why ive grown to enjoy college ball so much more this year. Players playing as a team when something is really on the line, whereas in the NBA players have got thier $$$ and could give 2 s**** what the score at the end of the game is as long as they get their 30-10-6.
i say this knowing that there are true gamers in the association, it just that its become to glorified and individual. there no f'in I in team!!!!!!! (Y i aint a cav fan no more)
oh and someone tell the staples center janitor to turn the f***in lights on, stingy biatches!!

If they lose the whole wigger type of outlook on everything from almost every player, I think it would appeal to a bigger audience. I used to like it, when I thought rap was interesting. Maybe it is just me but it seems like rap and basketball go hand and hand anymore.

Definitely garbage. You have Nate Robinson, who missed 3246523525 dunks in a row win a dunk contest because they want to reminise about Spudd Webb, you have a commissoner who makes the worst rules possible (dumb dress code, dumb ball). The only good thing he's done is make it so you have to wait at least one year out of high school to go pro.
The only games I watch are Celtic games, and even then I don't watch the whole game. I can't sit down and watch like Miami and Los Angeles, it just has no appeal. Any other sport I can see two teams who I know nothing about and be fine.
You never see something new, it's the same old faces game in and game out, and it's just old.

No, it's not garbage. Of course these guys show effort. The Pistons and Spurs are teams that rely on defense to get them far, and it works. There's excitement, especially in the playoffs. There are issues with it, but garbage is a VERY strong word. Okay, two teams play defense. Whoopee! I'll be generous, and say there's maybe a whole four other teams in the league that actually put a somewhat decent effort on defense. So 20% of the league actually knows how to play the game right. Definitely not. Twenty years ago, when the game was actually played right, the refs didn't call fouls because some guy looked at Larry Bird funny. But nowadays, if someone even glances at LeBron, it's two shots. You have players that stand in the paint for 10 seconds with the ref just letting it go. Everyone travels, everyone palms the ball, and everybody goes in on the foul shot early. Half the time on inbound passes after a basket the guy inbounding it has half a foot in bounds. Twenty years ago you wouldn't see a guy crying his way out of a team (Vince Carter). You didn't have dumbass players running into the stands starting brawls (Ron Artest and Steven Jackson). You didn't even have fans throwing coins at players (Detroit). You weren't able to trade away a player and have him cry his way out to come back to the team (Gary Payton). But the image of the league changed when the players that made up the league did whatever they wanted. So while you can certainly enjoy some of the hard working players out there, who actually put an effort into what they do and aren't out there for just themselves to fool around, you have pretty much characters, like Wade and Artest, and the whole thing is now a giant circus, headed by the biggest clown of them all, David Stern.

Did anyone see the one game between Miami and Portland where Dwayne Wade traveled and fell and the foul was called on the Blazers defender?

I keep an eye on the NBA and occasionally watch a game, but the problem is that college basketball is so much better.

I wouldn't say its garbage, but I like watching college basketball a ton more. I would rather watch Missouri State - Northern Iowa before I watch Toronto - Orlando.

I don't watch the NBA, like at all. So I obviously think it's garbage or at least that I don't care.

I really do enjoy watching the NBA.
People keep on complaining about the star treatment, but look at the last few years (not including last year), the teams that won the championship have been team oriented. The Pistons and the Spurs both really relay on team play, not the play of one player. Also this year the top teams have good team play (Spurs, Pistons, Mavericks, Suns, and even Utah)

What does that have to do with Star Treatment...at ALL? That it doesnt effect who wins the championship (most of the time), so It doesnt really matter

Yeah, it doesn't matter that players like Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade can get people called on fouls when they fall.
