As of the last couple weeks
Phils lineup>>>>> Astros Lineup Astros starters>>Phillies starters Astros Bullpen>>>Phillies bullpen
It's really close, and I'm afraid to say that if Philly doesn't win at least 4 of the last 6 games, they won't make it. Even if Houston gets swept by St. Louis, they can take at least 2 of 4 from the cubs with ease.
I wish the Phils luck, but how much longer can this stretch last?

If the Phils win 4 of 6 from the Astros that forces the Astros to win at least 4 to keep from a one game playoff. Sorry Robino and company, GO ST. LOUIS!

The Stros don't need to win 4. The Stros hold the tiebreaker over the Phils, so all they need is 3-3 if the Phils win 4...

No they don't do that anymore. They have a one game playoff to decide.

Well if that's accurate, good for the Phillies. Then again, I doubt they could beat the Astros head up with one of the trio of Pettite/Oswalt/Clemens against whoever the Phillies ace is (Lieber? Padilla has been hot I believe, but Lieber was the #1 from the start).

Actually, the Phillies go to guy was Randy Wolf before the injury. Now it is Jon Lieber. Lieber is an ace when he can avoid his wacky patented 10 run innings. Our hitting is just sick with Abreu, Burrell, Utley, Howard, Rollins, and the always clutch David Bell.

A 25 HR, 100 RBI season isn't good enough to be qualified as a great hitter?

A 25 HR, 100 RBI season isn't good enough to be qualified as a great hitter? I think he is refering to his AS HR derby. Which you cant base something on, anyone can hit a ton of HRs when the ball is thrown down the middle right at the knees...

FearTheGinn, do you know what good and bad numbers are. Good numbers are Bobby Abreu. Bad numbers are what Justin Zwick had against Texas. Hopefully you can see the difference, and realize that Bobby Abreu is one of the best hitters in the National League. Also, darjar forgot to mention how Bobby is among the top players in the league in walks, while guys like Soriano and Blalock are K machines...

Haha...funny how you mention Zwicks horrible performance against Texas. Yet Ohio State had the lead in that game til about 2 minutes left...yup I'd say he ruined that game for us.

if I remember correctly, Philly has homefield in a 1-game playoff too..... I remember during the coinflips, Houston won homefield only against Washington....

^^^ Sweet, I have friends! jm... your a Bucs fan And as for Zwick, it's a 60 minute game (or however long a college game is, I don't really follow it ****EDIT: TOO CLOSELY****). The fact that he didn't play well enough the entire game overshadows any great things he did. Just look at McNabb in the Super Bowl. He took so much heat just for not being able to upset the defending champs on a final drive. Zwick didn't play well enough, and it's that simple. Meantime, the Phillies offense that you say don't have any weapons were up 2-0 when I last checked. It's a shame my Mets suck

Phillies lost because Charlie Manuel is the worst manager ever. Who leaves a reliever in after he hasn't recorded an out, has given up two runs, and still has two men on base?
The Astros didn't even play Mike.
