PITTSBURGH STEELERS (0-0) at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (0-0) Week 1 -- Sunday, September 13th 2009, 1:00 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh| 3 | 7 | 0 | 3 | 13 Jacksonville| 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 Josh Scobee's bad day ! 1st Half:
It was finally the first week of the NFL and the Steelers were starting off the season in sunny Jacksonville to square off against the Jaguars. The Jaguars would get the ball first and would manage to get some good yardage on the ground. 2nd round pick of last draft for the Steelers Quentin Andrews would show the team what he can bring to this team picking off Leftwich in that same drive to give the ball for the first time of the day to the Steelers offense. The Steelers weren't able to score on that drive but would take a 3-0 lead on a short field goal by Jeff Reed on their next drive. After throwing 28 interceptions last season, Big Ben would throw his first at the end of the first quarter and the Jaguars would get the ball on 1st and goal after a big return. The Steelers would make a nice defensive stop to limit the damage to a field goal but the Jaguars would miss the easy 30 yard field goal. After another Garrard interception, the Steelers would finally score their first touchdown of the season on an unbelievable catch by Heath Miller, a one hand grab. 10-0 Steelers at the half.
2nd Half:It definitely wasn't Josh Scobee's day. In the third quarter, he'd miss his 3rd field goal of the gay. After scoring on another field goal, the Steelers would manage to pick another off from Garrard and get another redzone trip. Big Ben would throw one off on the first play of the drive to give the ball back to the Jags. The Steelers would run the ball pretty well during the rest of the game to run the clock down and win this one easily 13-0. The Steelers are now 1-0 with a big win on the road going on next week vs the Broncos. Game pictures:Quentin Andrews first career interception. Steelers first touchdown of the season. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (1-0) at DENVER BRONCOS (0-1) Week 2 -- Sunday, September 20th 2009, 4:15 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh| 0 | 13 | 0 | 0 | 13 Denver| 7 | 7 | 3 | 0 | 17 Big Ben sucked.... 1st Half:
Both team missed the playoffs last year by an inch. Both team are looking to put this behind them and move on and get into the playoffs this year. Last week the Steelers whipped the Jaguars while the Broncos lost their first game of the season. On a sucky first drive, the Broncos would give the ball to the Steelers on a punt and the Steelers would have some great field position to work with. On first and goal, Champ Bailey would make an incredible interception in the endzone. On their next drive, Jay Culter had no trouble moving the ball down the field and completed the drive with a nice throw to Darrell Jackson for the touchdown. 7-0 Denver. On a Jay Cutler fumble, the Steelers would manage to score on a short field goal to cut the lead to 7-3. The Broncos would reply right back with a nice pitch and catch from Cutler to Marshall for 37 yards. The Steekers would finally pick it up and would score a touchdown and a field goal by the end of the quarter so the score at the halftime was 14-13 Denver.
2nd Half:Ben Roethlisberger would have a tough time during the 3rd quarter of this game throwing back to back interceptions. Rhys Lloyd would kick a field goal for Denver to give them a 17-13 lead late in the 3rd quarter. That'd be enough to give them the victory in this one due to the fact the Steelers were making too many mistake on offense. Big Ben threw 4 interceptions in the game. After winning their week 1 contest, the Steelers were facing the Bears after a tough loss in week 2 against the Broncos. In the first quarter of this one, the Bears would commit a very costly mistake. Devin Hester fumbled the ball on a punt in his own territory and the Steelers recovered the ball. A couple of plays later the Steelers scored on a Mendenhall would score his first career touchdown on a short run. The Steelers then committed a mistake of their own throwing an interception in their own zone. The Bears scored 3 points off that turnover. The score at half time was 7-3 Steelers.
2nd Half:The Bears QB is Joseph Atwater and he's a rookie. He had quite a tough day at work throwing 2 costly interceptions. In the second half of this game, the Steelers were able to score three touchdowns. Heath Miller scored the first one in the third quarter on a 1 yard pass from Roethlisberger to give the Steelers a 11 points lead at that moment. The Bears narrowed down the lead to 8 points with another field goal but Willie Parker scored back to back touchdowns to put the game out of sight for the Bears. The Steelers won an easy contest 28-6 and now have a 2-1 record. Game pictures:None for this game. Sorry. Scoring Summary:

Once again it was the Steelers defense that made the difference in this one. Early in the game they were able to pick Jon Kitna two times returning one of them in the endzone for the touchdown. After one quarter of play it was 7-0 Steelers. Both teams would exchange a field goal, one of 40 yard for the Lions and one of 39 for the Steelers, before going into the halftime with the Steelers in front by a touchdown 10-3.
2nd Half:In this second half, the Steelers defense was able to make the big plays when the Lions were getting close of their territory either by forcing them to punt or causing a turnover. The Steelers offense had a bit of trouble moving the ball but finally managed to increase the lead with a short 3 yard pass from Ben Roethlisberger to Matt Spaeth and it was 17-3 Steelers at that moment. After that, Willie Parker was able to run the ball effectively to kill some time on the clock and get the big W for the Steelers once again on the road. Next week they will be facing the Ravens in Baltimore in a big division rivalry game. Game pictures:A fake run that led to the Steelers touchdown in the 4th quarter. Scoring Summary:

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (3-1) at BALTIMORE RAVENS (2-2) Week 5 -- Sunday, October 11th 2009, 1:00 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh|3 | 3 | 0 | 3 | 9 Baltimore| 7 | 10 | 0 | 3 | 20 More than a loss 1st Half:
The first of two games between the Ravens and the Steelers took place in Baltimore this week in the NFL. The Ravens were the first to get some points on the board thanks to their very good defense. Roethlisberger would throw his 10th interception of the season and Suggs would bring it back to the endzone for the touchdown. Jeff Reed would cut the lead to 4 points with a 30 yard field goal before the end of the first quarter. In the 2nd quarter, the Ravens would increase their lead thanks to a nice drive. Flacco would connect with Clayton on a 18 yard pass for the touchdown. 14-3 Ravens at that moment. Ben Roethlisberger was injured in this first half and Charlie Batch was called up to finish up the game. Late in the 2nd quarter Reed would kick his longest field goal of the season, a 45 yard one to cut the lead to 8 points. The Ravens would get another field goal at the very end of the 2nd quarter. 17-6 Ravens at the halftime.
2nd Half:Both team would, once again, score 3 points on a field goal so it'd be 20-9 Ravens. Both defenses would force turnovers and the Ravens defense would totally shut down the Steelers offense with their backup QB in Charlie Batch. They'd run down the clock in the end of the game. The Ravens won this game 20-9 and are now tied with the Steelers in the AFC North. Game pictures:Suggs touchdown. Big Ben had to leave the game with an injury. Scoring Summary:

CINCINNATI BENGALS (1-4) at PITTSBURGH STEELERS (3-2) Week 6 -- Sunday, October 18th 2009, 1:00 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh|7 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 10 Cincinnati| 3 | 7| 7 | 0 | 17 Palmer 1, Batch 0 1st Half:
It sucked for the fans in Pittsburgh. First home game, no Big Ben. It was Charlie Batch the starter for the Steelers in this one. Batch would impress on his first drive of the game moving the ball pretty well on passing plays. He'd finish the drive with a great throw to Holmes for the touchdown. 7-0 early lead for the Steelers. The Bengals would reply right back with a field goal to cut down the lead to 4 points. After a McFadden interception, the Steelers would get another try in the redzone. Batch threw an interception of his own to kill the opportunity. The Bengals would rally before the halftime mark and would get an excellent drive threw the air. Palmer would connect with Chatman on a 9 yard play to give the Bengals a 10-7 lead heading into halftime.
2nd Half:The Bengals, surprisingly, would continu on their cruise in the 2nd half. They'd increase their lead to 10 points on a 2 yard rush by Rudi Johnson. After that, a bunch of interceptions thrown by Batch would force the Steelers to start all over again the comeback. They'd manage to get 3 points off a Jeff Reed field goal and with 1:12 remaining, Graham would miss a 54 yard field goal to give the Steelers one last chance to tie things up at 17. Guess what, Batch, interception, you know the rest. Bengals win, wow, disapointment. Game pictures:McFadden's interception That interception ended the game for the Steelers. Scoring Summary:

BALTIMORE RAVENS (3-4) at PITTSBURGH STEELERS (3-3) Week 8 -- Sunday, November 01st 2009, 4:15 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh|0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 2 Baltimore| 0 | 20| 0 | 0 | 20 2 points is not enough. 1st Half:
The Steelers were on a 2 game winning streak going into their bye last week. This time they were facing the Ravens who not only beat them 20-9 in week 5 but also injured Ben Roethlisberger. This time, Big Ben was report probable for this game and started the game for the Steelers. The first quarter was pretty quiet on offense. The big plays happened on defense. In the 2nd quarter, the Ravens managed to score 20 points starting up with a 13 yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Clayton. Flacco threw his second touchdown pass of the game a couple of minutes later to give his team a 14-0 lead. Then, before the half, the Ravens scored 6 points on 2 back to back field goals. The Steelers were totally shutdown in this half. 20-0 Ravens.
2nd Half:The Steelers finally got on the board in the end of the third quarter of this game on a safety. Then they got some good field position on the safety punt but did not manage to get into the endzone for the touchdown and turned the ball over. The Ravens did what they had to do to win this game. Play great on defense and score when theres an opportunity. Big Ben had a tough game in his comeback from his injury. Ravens won 20-2. Game pictures:None for this game. Scoring Summary:

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (5-2) at PITTSBURGH STEELERS (3-4) Week 9 -- Sunday, November 08th 2009, 4:15 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh|0 | 3 | 0 | 21 | 24 Kansas City| 0 | 3| 3 | 0 | 6 Willie Parker's day 1st Half:
The Steelers were on a 3 game losing streak going into this game against the 5-2 Kansas City Chiefs who are having a surprising season so far. Both teams would be quiet on offense in the 1st quarter of this game. They'd get some points in the second quarter of this game on field goals. Jeff Reed would kick a 35 yard one for the Steelers while Dave Rayner for the Chiefs kicked a 34 yard one. The score at the halftime was 3-3 and it was a very tight game so far.
2nd Half:The third quarter was pretty much like the first one of this game. Very quiet on offense by both teams. Dave Rayner would kick his second field goal of the game, this time a 52 yard one to give his team a 3 points lead. 6-3 Chiefs. In the 4th quarter, Willie Parker would get his groove on. He'd score not 1, not 2 but 3 back to back touchdowns. One on a 3 yard run, the second on a 1 yard run and the last on a big 81 yard gain. That'd give the Steelers a confortable lead and the victory. Parker has now 5 touchdowns this season. Game pictures:None for this game. Scoring Summary:

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (4-4) at CLEVELAND BROWNS (5-3) Week 10 -- Sunday, November 15th 2009, 1:00 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh|7 | 3 | 0 | 7| 17 Cleveland| 0 | 3| 0 | 18 | 21 Miracle. 1st Half:
This was a very very important game for both teams since the race in the AFC North for the division title is pretty tight right now. After back to back 3 and outs by both team the Steelers would get on the board on a perfect pass from Roethlisberger to Hines Ward, his first touchdown reception of the season. Finally. After a Deshea Townsend interception the Steelers would increase their lead to 10 points after a Jeff Reed field goal. Before the half time, the Browns would kick a 37 yard field goal. The score at the half time mark was 10-3 in favor of the Steelers.
2nd Half:The score was still 10-3 in favor of the Steelers going into the 4th quarter after a 3rd quarter filled with 3 and outs by both teams. T.J Houshmandzadeh was the best option on offense for the Browns in this one. He made great catches all game long. The Browns managed to get into the redzone with a little bit more than 3 minutes remaining into the game. They failed to get anything going after and were forced to make a field goal. 10-6 Steelers at that moment. Just like last game, Willie Parker busted out in the 4th quarter and give the Steelers a confortable lead scoring on a touchdown after a 62 yard run. His 4th touchdown in the two last games. The Browns would score a touchdown on a Winslow drive. He'd catch 5 passes on the drive and scored the touchdown. 17-14 after this touchdown and the two points conversion with 36 seconds remaining. On the onside kick, Sweed would recover the kickoff for the Steelers but with their timeout the Browns would manage to get the ball back with a couple of seconds to go. On fourth down, Anderson would throw a hail mary, to T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who'd catch the ball but a lot of field in front of him and some defenders. A couple of broken tackles later he'd be celebrating in the endzone the victory of his football team. Crazy play by T.J. WOW ! Game pictures:Ward's touchdown. Parker's touchdown. NEW YORK JETS (4-5) at PITTSBURGH STEELERS (4-5) Week 11 -- Sunday, November 22th 2009, 1:00 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh|0 |7 | 0 |0| 7 NY Jets| 0 | 6| 0 | 6| 12 0 ffense 1st Half:
Brett Favre joined the Jets last year and the Jets made it to the wildcard division but lost to the Patriots. This year is not the same at all. They are 4-5 so far, same record than the Steelers. They were facing each other in week 11 of this NFL season. After a Steelers missed field goal, the Jets would get good field position and would score the first points of the game on a short field goal. The Steelers would reply right back with some points of their own. They'd take the lead on a nice pitch and catch by Big Ben and Santonio Holmes for the touchdown. 7-3 Steelers. Before the half, the Jets would add another 3 points to cut the Steelers lead to only 1 point. It was then, 7-6 Steelers at the half.
2nd Half:Nothing. Nothing was generated on offense by both teams in the third quarter. The Jets finally got a chance to take the lead in the 4th quarter after a punt to get some nice field position. A couple of plays later and they were in the lead after a a nice pass by Favre to Keys. It was then 12-7 Jets after the missed 2 point conversion. The Steelers would get one last chance with no timeouts remaining and 1:44 left to play into the fourth quarter of play. Big Ben would get picked off near the redzone and it would be it for the Steelers in this one. Game pictures:Favre's touchdown pass. Scoring Summary:
