HOUSTON TEXANS (0-0) at PITTSBURGH STEELERS (0-0) Week 1 -- Sunday, September 07th 2008, 1:00 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh| 3 | 3 | 14 | 0 | 20 Houston| 0 | 10 | 0 | 17 | 27 Costly turnovers eh ?! 1st Half:It was finally the first week in the NFL and the Steelers started off the season against the Houston Texans. The Steelers had a very nice season last year so the expectations for this season are pretty high. The Steelers would get a very nice offensive drive going at the end of the first quarter and they would score 3 points on it thanks to a 31 yard field goal by Jeff Reed. The Texans would reply in the 2nd quarter, they would take the lead on a nice 9 yard pass from Schaub to Walter to take a 7-3 lead. After a Schaub interception thrown, the Steelers would score on the turnover on another field goal by Jeff Reed, this time a 46 yard one. The Texans would imitate the Steelers after a Santonio Holmes fumble. They would score a field goal and the score at half time: 10-6 Texans. 2nd Half: On the first drive of the second half, the Texans would commit another costly turnover. Troy Polamalu would intercept Schaub right in the middle of the field in the Texans territory and on the first play of the Steelers drive Ben Roethlisberger would connect with Hines Ward on a 28 yard pass to take back the lead 13-10. It seemed that this was all it took to get the Steelers offense going. On their next drive, they'd go all the way down the field and Big Ben would connect with Santonio Holmes who'd recover for his earlier mistake. That'd be Roethlisberger's second touchdown throw of the day. 20-10 Steelers at that moment. The Texans would give up just now. They'd reply right back on their next drive making first downs after first downs. They'd add 3 points to their score with another field goal and the Steelers lead would only be 7 points. That would give the Texans a new life. Big Ben, on hte first play of the next drive, would throw an awful ball and the Texans would pick him off in Steelers territory. A golden occasion. The Texans would tie the game up on a nice short throw by Schaub to his runningback Ahman Green. The Steelers would get the ball back with 2 minute remaining in the game. Unfortunately for the Steelers, Big Ben would cost his team the game on another interception but this time returned to the endzone. A very disapointing loss for the Steelers.... starting the season 0-1 and facing the Browns in Cleveland next week. Scoring Summary:

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (0-1) at CLEVELAND BROWNS (0-1) Week 2 -- Sunday, September 14th 2008, 8:15 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh| 7 | 0 | 0| 0 | 7 Cleveland| 7 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 10 A very close game... 1st Half:Could the Steelers bounce back from that horrible lost last week in front of their fans against Houston in this sunday night game at Cleveland against the Browns ? They'd need some yardage from Parker this time around. Both teams would commit turnovers on their first drive. The Browns would score the first points of the game on a touchdown reception by Winslow. The Steelers would reply to that right back. How ? Willy Parker. He'd bust for a big run, 41 yard run for the touchdown. That's 2 times the number of yards he got against the Texans on only one play. 7-7 at that the end of the first quarter. The Browns would manage to take the lead back at the very end of the 2nd quarter on a short field goal. 10-7 Browns at the half 2nd Half: Both teams would play great on the defensive side of the ball, not allowing any points in the 3rd quarter. The Steelers would get many chance to tie this game or even take the lead but another Roethlisberger interception would kill all of their last hope to do so. The Browns would run the clock down and would steal this one. Maybe we should say "steel" this one... bah. Scoring Summary:

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (0-2) at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (1-1) Week 3 -- Sunday, September 21th 2008, 4:15 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh| 0 | 7 | 0| 7 | 14 Philadelphia| 3 | 0 | 0 | 7 | 10 What you call, being clutch. 1st Half:The Steelers would face another big challenge facing the Eagles in Philadelphia and they were still looking for their first victory of the season. David Akers, kicker for Philadelphia, would be the first player to score for his team on a 40 yard field goal in the 1st quarter after a Big Ben interception. Hines Ward scored his 2nd touchdown of the year on a short pass from Ben Roethlisberger. That gave the Steelers a 7-3 lead going into halftime. 2nd Half: The Steelers needed to play a good defensive second half to keep their lead and hope winning a first game this season. That's exactly what they did during this half until McNabb did what he's good at. Run the ball and find a way to make his team score. He threw a 4 yard pass to L.J Smith and that gave the Eagles the lead with only 2:39 remaining in the game. The Steelers would need a miracle late game drive to win this one. That'd be exactly what they'd do. Big Ben would throw passes for first downs after first downs and he'd finish the drive with a nice 2 yard run to give his team the touchdown and the win. The Steelers finally won a game ! Scoring Summary:
1st Quarter
Eagles FG -- Akers 40 yard - 2:40

The Ravens would get the first points of the game on a short field goal thanks to a Big Ben turnover. 3-0 Ravens early in the game. The Steelers would bounce back right after on the next drive. Willy Parker would complete a very nice offensive push with a 1 yard touchdown run. His second touchdown of the season. 7-3 would be the score in favor of the Steelers at half time. 2nd Half: Jeff Reed would increase the Steelers lead with a nice 37 yard field goal. 10-3 Steelers. They were playing a great defensive game stopping both the pass and the run pretty damn well. After another Steelers field goal, Stover would have the chance to get his team back into this one with a field goal but he missed the 52 yarder. The Steelers would not allow any more points into this one. Another great defensive game for them and they are not .500 with a 2-2 record. Scoring Summary:

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (2-2) at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (2-2) Week 5 -- Sunday, October 05th 2008, 8:15 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh| 0 | 7 | 7| 7 | 21 Jacksonville| 3 | 3 | 0 | 6 | 12 Good bye ! 1st Half:Back at .500, the Steelers were facing the Jacksonville who were also .500 with a 2-2 record in this sunday night game. After Ben Roethlisberger's 8th interception thrown of the year, the Jaguars would get in good field position to get some points on the board. They'd get 3 points on a Josh Scobee field goal. The Jaguars controlled the ball for the entire 1st quarter or so. The Steelers would get some offensive going in the second quarter of this one. Ben Roethlisberger would hook up with his FB Carey Davis on a nice short pass for the touchdown. 7-3 Steelers at that time. The Jaguars would add up another field goal before half time so the score would be 7-6 Steelers at the half point of this one. 2nd Half: Back from the locker room, the Jaguars got the kickoff and got things going right away. They pulled out a very nice offensive drive and managed to get into the redzone. Unfortunately for them, David Garrard would get picked off by Ike Taylor who'd return it all the way to the endzone for 6. 14-6 after this costly mistake. The Steelers would increase their lead with another passing touchdown, this time Heath Miller would get the touchdown reception from Big Ben. Fred Taylor would score a touchdown late in the game but it'd be too little to late. A nice victory before going into bye week for the Steelers. Final score: 21-12. Scoring Summary:

Breaking News It has been announced that the Houston Texans have signed former Vikings Quarterback Daunte Culpepper. It is a 3 year deal worth 7.20M. It is not known yet if Culpepper will be the startup QB or if he'll be the backup of Matt Schaub making a pretty good job this year so far for the Texans.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (3-2) at CINCINNATI BENGALS (1-5) Week 7 -- Sunday, October 19th 2008, 1:00 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh| 14 | 3 | 0| 0 | 17 Cincinnati| 0 | 7 | 0 | 0 | 7 Willy Parker day ! 1st Half:It's week 7 in the NFL and the Bengals are facing of against the Steelers in Cincinnati. The Bengals are having a tough season while the Steelers are on a winning streak, a 3 game one. Willy Parker would show the Bengals how it's done at the beginning of the game. He would bust out for a big run and the touchdown to give his team a 7-0 early lead. Believe it or not, he'd do it again at the end of the first quarter. This time an 84 yard run so he'd have 172 yard and 2 touchdowns on only 8 carries. After a Steelers field goal, the Bengals would finally get on the board on a touchdown pass by Palmer. 17-7 Steelers at the half time. 2nd Half: The 3rd quarter would be scoreless and the Steelers would do their best to run the time as much as possible. And that's what they did during all the rest of the game thanks to their nice running game getting clutch first downs. The Bengals on their side, would not get anything going on offense. Steelers won, 17-7. Scoring Summary:

Breaking News It has been announced that the San Diego Chargers have signed quarterback Tim Rattay to a 6.06M deal for 3 years after the knowledge of Philip Rivers injury . Rivers will miss at least 8 weeks. He'll probably backup Billy Volek.

NEW YORK GIANTS (5-1) at PITTSBURGH STEELERS (4-2) Week 8 -- Sunday, October 26th 2008, 4:15 PM Teams| 1st| 2nd| 3rd| 4th| FinalPittsburgh| 7 | 7 | 0| 0 | 14 NY Giants| 0 | 6 | 8 | 0 | 17 What a f**&"ing game !! 1st Half:It was a good matchup between to excellent teams, the Steelers and the Giants. The Steelers were playing in front of their fans, an advantage some could say. They had the momentum at the beginning of the game scoring the first 2 touchdowns. Heath Miller would get the first one on a 3 yard pass from his QB Ben Roethlisberger in the first quarter. 7-0 Steelers after one quarter. In the second one, Santonio Holmes would get his 2nd touchdown of the season on a nice 14 yard reception to give his team a 14-3 lead at the moment. Tynes would cut the lead to 8 points with a last second field goal in the 2nd quarter of this one. 2nd Half: It was a tight battle till the end in this one. The Giants managed to tie the game up at 14 points when Brandon Jacobs finished a very nice drive for the Giants with a 3 yard run at the very end of the 3rd quarter and after the 2 point conversion it was, like mentionned, a tie game between these two even matched teams. The fourth quarter had plenty of punts in it but not score was made so the game had to go into overtime. The Steelers had the first chance of it too score but unfortunately, Jeff Reed missed an important 51 yard field goal to give the Giants one last shot at the W. They would not miss it. Couple of minutes later, Tynes, him again, would give his team the win with a clutch field goal. Giants win this big big game. Scoring Summary:
