As a point of interest, Blaine Gabbert got benched in a game a few weeks ago after leading his team to fewer than 100 yards team total offense and zero touchdowns through about three and a half quarters.
The ironic thing is that his little brother, the backup, came in and led the team on their only TD drive of the game. I believe they lost that game, too.
Mizzou hasn't found a quarterback for the '08 class (yet), but at least 'Bama fans can rest easy with Star Jackson. Mizzou is looking at a top '09 guy for the future QB.

Yeah Star Jackson was a monster pick up for Bama. If we can just land Julio Jones, I think things are really looking up in T-Town.

Ohio State still leads for Terrelle Pryor, and is a big leader for the top DT in the 09 class in Simon from Canton McKinley.

He's said all along he's going to wait until NLOID, but I'm a little worried about Florida and West Virginia stealing him away.

NSD should be interesting. With so many top prospects verballing early, could make some coaches nervous wondering if they'll hang on to those commits for that amount of time.

Word out of Columbia is that Gabbert is reconsidering attending Mizzou, but is still a Nebraska commit at this time. My guess is that he only stays at Nebraska if Callahan stays on, which isn't very likely to happen. This comes on the heels of Mizzou getting a commit from an '09 QB who was on the Rivals 100 To Watch list for next season. If Star Jackson wasn't already committed, I think Alabama would have been the leader if he did de-commit.
Also, there are a few other prospects committed to other schools who would consider the Tigers if Gabbert decided that way.
Getting interesting around here...

Ohio State picked up a commit from 4 star WR/RB Lamarr Thomas, who is a virtual Ted Ginn clone physically, with the same size and speed.. but I highly doubt he has Teddy's vision, that is what made him such a great playmaker.
Thomas is going to be a WR at Ohio State, although Illinois and Maryland tried to steal him away by promising him he could be a RB.
We have definately cooled on Shayne Hale, though. We have one of the top linebackers in this class in Andrew Sweat, and another in a Florida prospect (Not committed yet) that I will make no attempt in typing out the name, not to mention that we have 2 linebackers in the 2009 Rivals 100 to watch, so I'm content. Hale wants to play linebacker, but we see him as more of a defensive end. He is in love with UVA and Michigan because they are promising him to be a linebacker.
Funny how every time a prospect goes to another school to play a position that Ohio State didn't see him at (Prescott Burgess went to Michigan because they promised to let him play safety, see how well that worked out; and Michael Bush went to Louisville with the promise to be a QB..) they end up playing that position.

4-star Colorado OL Bryce Givens is now visiting Mizzou this weekend for the Iowa State game. He's the kind of lineman we need - a pass-blocker that has a mean streak to him. Also, he's a current Husker commit.
Buck, do you think with Nebraska's downfall imminent, that you could steal away D.J. Woods and Doug Rippy? I'm not even sure they would get OSU offers, though, if they don't already have them.

Actually now that OSU has cooled on him, WVU is #1 for him. WVU is the only school that wants him at LB, everybody else wants him at DE, including Michigan. Everything else you said was right though.

I'm pretty confident that Woods ends up with whatever school has the last visit. He committed to Nebraska after visiting their over the summer, then re-opened his recruitment after taking an unofficial to Ohio State for the YSU game. So, I think whoever has the last visit, or makes the last pitch, etc. will win out for Woods. Woods is the only one of the pair that has an OSU offer. Another reason he is a Husker is becuase JT and company see him as a defensive back, but DJ wants to play WR in college.

Nebraska message boards now clamoring for the new Husker coaching staff to pursue Terrelle Pryor hard when they get settled in, since Gabbert has now officially de-committed.
I know they are just BBS, but that is pure comedy gold at its finest.

He was interested in us before he committed to Nebraska, and now he's trying to set up a visit back here. Is he like a big priority for Mizzou? oh yeah no update on my cousin in a long time. His team is 10-0 and he's still waiting on his Louisville offer. If he gets it, 3 of St. Xavier players are going to Louisville next year.

Congrats to your cousin on his season, Chis.
As for Givens, it appears that he along with Will Compton, Wes Kemp (Wisky commit), and Josh Williams would all jump ship and head to Mizzou if Gabbert commits to the Tigers. Givens is in Columbia today along with Gabbert, so I'm interested to see how that visit goes. We just picked up a 2009 QB commit last week, but apparently he's not bothered by a very possible Gabbert commit to us, and vice versa.
Unless Gabbert decides on Michigan, I don't think Givens is going to be in Maize&Blue. Anything goes in recruiting, but with the friendships that they've all formed, it will be tough.

Bearcat, a bit of an update on Woods for ya. He doesn't have a tOSU offer and will not get one. This is because when we did offer him, he committed to Nebraska the next day and threw it back in our face.

Etienne Sabino, ranked 49th overall by Rivals, committed to tOSU a few days ago.
I think that we may end up with the nation's top class this year.

I think that we may end up with the nation's top class this year. Sorry. That belongs to Notre Dame. Because of pure numbers. We'll only take around 16-17 players this year, which means that we won't end up with the total points as Notre Dame on most recruiting sites. Check over our committ list on Scout there Spartan. Easily the best class Tressel has ever put together, and that's saying something considering his 2002 class was the 2nd winningest all-time in Ohio State football history.

News out of Ann Arbor is that 4 star commit Sam McGuffie will indeed decommit if Les Miles is hired to be the new head coach at Michigan. This stems from Miles' not offering McGuffie a scholarship at LSU.
If Miles' does take the Michigan job, word has it that McGuffie will commit to Texas A&M.
