Not much of a college basketballl fan until it comes time to March. But today I made a trip down to Sports Clips to get my hair trimmed. While I was there I got to watch the 2nd Half/OT of the George Mason/Syracuse game. The game was so amazing and exciting that it has brought my interest a little early this year. Actually made me so excited, that I bought tickets to the Alabama/Auburn game when Auburn comes to T-Town. Roll Tide! Oh, by the way I was rooting for the Orangemen today.

I miss watchin George Mason play. Luckily they'll play VCU next Tuesday on ESPN2. I'll definelty not miss that because USF's basketball team sucks complete ass. I dont think im going to anymore of their games this year after I saw them lose to West Virginia last Sunday. But im sure Stan Heath will build up that program.

Good job showing loyalty to the school there, Blaze.
I'm sure I'm going to go to every basketball game I can for whatever university I attend. Even if it's a school like NJIT.

They're all about football. Basketball just isnt there yet.... besides, the games I've seen on local TV look boring and when I saw them play West VA, it proved it. They just dont have a basketball tradition yet and the students here dont really support em. I might see them play UCONN, Syracuse, or Notre Dame when those teams visit but all I can hope for is that they get better next season....

Take the initiative. A basketball culture doesn't start with the team's success if they get no fan support. Some really mediocre teams have done really well with a strong home support.
I'm one of those people who firmly believe that the fans are indeed the 12th Man, and that it's their job, their duty, to support through thick and thin in the best way they can. And also, maybe in a lesser extent, to make playing at home tough for the other team. The support you give at home can fire the team up, giving them a mental advantage. Show that you believe and they might, too. At least, that's my fan philosophy. Maybe that's why the Giants suck so much at home, because the fans who go to their games are awful at cheering.
...Plus, basketball games are fun to go to, even if the team you cheer for deserves to be playing small state schools and the Coast Guard Academy.

I love football and going to games, but I think basketball, when it's played the right way, is MUCH more interesting to watch in person. Not wanting to pile on Blaze, but usma's right. Missouri is dealing with fan support issues, and the whole "all about football" that he mentions is why it's hard to have big-time programs in both major revenue sports. But on topic, I think I've found my sleeper team so far - Baylor. Doubted them early, but with three senior guards, they look like a team that could make a deep run. They'll give Kansas a run for their money, that's for sure.

I understand what you are saying but when it comes down to it, at this moment I'm not going to be able to go to all their remaining home games due to other committments. I love basketball and the Big East is a great conference but USF's atheltic programs are so young that it'll take a while to grab not only student interest in basketball but local interest as well since Tampa is a big, diverse city. And I love going to actual b-ball games but i lose interest when my team gets blown out. Hell, in December I saw the Wizards play the Suns and they got CREAMED. I left with about 6 minutes to play in the 4th. With the start of conference play, USF is getting creamed by big east foes night in and night out.

wow, West Virginia and Georgetown played a great game with the Hoyas winning by 1...the ending was controversial IMO.
The Hoyas had to immediatly go into the locker room and police formed up on the court. Everyone in west va. was pissed lol.

Our worst 20-game mark since 83-84. I saw the game getting out of hand, but we kept in within 20. Which I said was a morale victory.

Big Ten is WEAK this season. I give Wisconsin two rounds in the tourney and Indiana one, but I doubt they win any more than that.

well I went to see UCONN play USF.....what a game that was. Except USF lost by 1 point in Overtime. You'll have to watch Sportscenter to see how crazy that game was but USF had the game won with about 6 seconds left in OT and the students were planning to rush the court. UCONN inbounded the ball and ran it downcourt and got a gamewinning layup with .2 seconds left. That deflated the whole arena.
And UCONN fans packed up the whole place. The game felt like it was being played on a neutral court since they were chanting as loud as USF fans.
