Agreed that opinions are opinions, but DB is quick to jump up his ass about Colt. Honestly DB, you could make a legit argument about most systems that have a stand-out QB in them.
The fact of the matter is that you basically are slapping the old "system" tag on him and calling it a day and he may not fairly deserve it. I mean, hell, Matt Leinart, who everyone is so high on and I agree with, had similar questions. Was he so good because of the talent in his system? Could he do it with a franchise-type back and elite recievers?
So to say Brennan won't do anything because he's from a pass-happy offense is a little silly.

I do kind of question Colt, or any quarterback who comes from a majority shotgun type offense. Think about it, how many quarterbacks who played primarily from the shotgun in college come into the league and are great. Let's look at some of the top quarterbacks in the league.
Peyton Manning- Pro-Style at Tennessee Tom Brady- Pro Set at Michigan Carson Palmer- Guess what, Pro-Style at USC Drew Brees- Spread Offense, but I think Tiller runs a lot of single back sets more so than shotgun
Compare that to the quarterbacks who played under Spurrier at Florida, or really any majority shotgun offense. How many have come into the league and been all that great? I'm sure you can find some, but for the majority, guys who run a pro-style in college translate better to the pros.

Colt Brennan is not a first round prospect, at least not in my mind. thats because you have that pre-concieved notion that all he is just a timmy chang clone that he doesn't deserve to even be thought about in a draft... Look, I never said he was like Timmy Chang. I just said that the system he plays in allows his numbers to be inflated. And what the hell man? I said he wasn't a first round draft pick. I never said that he doesn't deserve to be thought about.

I think that he was taking his frustration out on you, because alot of people do have that notion about colt... so you saying he is not a first round prospect kind of lit the fire.
All that matters right now.... without looking at other QB's and stles, because it doesnt matter. Is two things...

I know Brady Quinn is criticized a lot for not winning the big games, but the guy played in a pro offense at ND under Weis, and he's got the right skill set to make it big in the league. Whether or not that remains to be seen is the key here. As for Brennan, I think it's rather unfair for him to be labeled with the dreaded "system" tag, but it comes with the territory. I could be wrong, but the reason he transferred from Colorado was because he wasn't going to start as a freshman, and wanted to play. So June Jones gave him a home in Hawaii, and the rest is history. If he had stayed there, we're not discussing this right now.

Unfortunately he was kicked off Colorado because of legal issues... he was a troublemaker.
June Jones invited him to make the team, because he knew the kid could play, and after one scrimage he became the QB. I think he could have used the Senior Year, but then again... what better way to progress as a player than in the NFL its self haha.
He'll backup for an older player and then step in later down the road in a few years. Not a first rounder this year, maybe next year if he stayed. I'd say a late 2nd or 3rd.

I think if it wasn't for Brian Brohm staying in school, I think Colt would have stayed.

Alex smith hasn't been awful.

Young wasn't exactly brilliant this year. Yeah he won ROTY, but he wasn't exactly great.

Young has a totally different skill set as Colt anyways. The comparison doesn't really work.

Ill jump in and help ya out. Colt is a decent QB, look at the kind of system he is in, he threw the ball 559 times! That is crazy for any QB. Sure he is good I cant deny that, but the kind of opponents he played weren't exactly top notch. Throw Matt Leinart or even Chad Henne in that situation and they could do just as well if not even better. He should be a thought in the NFL but shouldn't get the kind of hype you are hoping him to get.

It does't matter anymore because colt withdrew his name from the draft and will return to Hawaii for his Senior season. Good choice young man.

Jeff Samardzija to forego the NFL, signing a 5-year contract with the Cubs.

Good for him.... not a true NFL WR anyways. He would have watched the games his entire career. Atleast in Chicago he'll see action... even if it's in the minors.

Young wasn't exactly brilliant this year. Yeah he won ROTY, but he wasn't exactly great. Reminded me a lot of Michael Vick as a rookie. His passing numbers were really average, he won a bunch of games with his feet. We'll see how he does next year.
