Troy Smith was not a first round quarterback.

One game did NOT cause Troy Smith to slip from 1st to 5th. Think about it. Let's say that he throws for 5 td's and Ohio State wins. Do you think he's still there in Day 2?

I'd just like to note, my enthusiasm over him going to a team where he could start in two to three years is most likely going to make me say stupid things.

Timmy Chang was a beast in college with his stats. Did he even get drafted? No. Scouts look at more than just stats in a game. Mechanics, skills, etc. are what come into consideration in drafts.

For once, Yankee is right.
Smith has good arm strength and accuracy, not to mention his mobility. He is extremely accurate and throws a good spiral. Not to mention the intangibles such leadership, pocket presence, and calm is under pressure.

Can someone tell me what "heighth" is? Some new evaluation terminology?

I thought Troy Smith was said to have to rely on short to medium passes at the top level due to accuaracy issues? Also, doesn't he have a tendency to get sloppy regarding his mechanics?

He definitely doesn't have the ideal height you look for and as a result he will have trouble finding throwing lanes and get too many passes batted down at the line. He doesn't always see the whole field, he does get sloppy with his mechanics and technique, he's still raw, and early in his career he had some character issues, but that isn't a huge concern, although they'll have to be checked out.

Good to see Brian Smith get drafted in the fourth round. He'll make the Jags a happy team.

Ok, for the Troy Smith thing. He should have been a mid 2nd rounder to mid 3rd rounder. End of story.
Now... as for Kevin Kolb lol
I disagree with the pick along with every other Eagles fan, and sorry if this has been said but Andy Reid made a good point last night.
The last time the Eagles picked a quarterback with there first pick, that guy was booed. Needless to say Donovan has turned out to be one hell of a quarterback.. lol
..
I still think it was a stupid ass pick though

Okay. Let's get one thing straight here. Kevin Kolb is not, nor ever will be, Donovan McNabb.

There is the thing, we had no type of player on Donovan McNabb's level on the roster. Andy can try and rationalize it as much as he wants but it was a bad pick for what round it was. The second day has been going better for the Eagles.

it was an interesting especially with Edwards and Beck still on the board, and because it was basically their first round pick of the 07 draft..McNabb isn't retiring in the next three years is he?

The only thing may be that they fear the McNabb injury turning into a Culpepper type of thing. From what they say though, Donovan is doing great in his rehab. Still, if that is true, Kolb was not the guy to come through with it. He is a system quarterback, although I am sure the heavy passing offense of Reid may help out Kolb. Andy is known to run a lot of three receiver sets similar to what Kolb was in during his time in Houston. The other part of that is Kolb ran the offense a lot out of the shotgun, something the offense has ran much over the years.
