Well, at least you don't have the worst record in baseball, like my team does. But the Yankees still suck. the Reds only have it by half a game I love the AL East standings where the closest team (Toronto) is 11 gb and the Yanks are 11.5 gb

I love the AL East standings where the closest team (Toronto) is 11 gb and the Yanks are 11.5 gb The funny thing about the 2nd place team being so far back is that even with how bad the division is, the Yankees still have the worst winning percentage for any team against their own division. If you take out all divisional games in the AL East, the Yankees would be the clear-cut 2nd best team, but the fact that they get raped by the sucky teams in their own division hurt them twice as hard, and make teams like Toronto look like a decent team from the outside...

Toronto is five games under .500, so I know they aren't "decent"

Boston is the only good team in the AL East....unless the Yankees suddenly clean up every single one of their infinite problems (hint: not happening) then the division is theirs to lose....and I don't see them losing it.

Toronto is five games under .500, so I know they aren't "decent" I meant that just by glancing over the places in the standings, Toronto is 2nd in what's normally the most rigorous division in the league... I said "looking from the outside", but I guess you'd have to be looking from much further away from that in this case... bad analogy I guess...

I don't really think it's all that bad. From little leagues and up you pretty much yell for the guy to drop it, but he usually doesn't..

I don't think what A-Rod did was bad at all. If anything it was smart. It's definitely not bush league like everyone else makes it out to be. I would like to hear a reason why it was SO horrible.
Sure, he tried to slap a ball out a few years ago. When it's the playoffs or any game against the Red Sox, you are going to react because you want to win. I have done it a few times myself.
The only reason this is being blown up is because it's A-Rod, plain and simple. If it was anyone else on another team, you would not hear about it. But just because it's the big bad Yankees, people get all upset. Everyone knows that they wouldn't think anything of this if it was someone else on their team.
Say what you want about A-Rod himself, but don't take anything away from what he did. It was smart baseball in my opinion.

That's bullshit. How can they honestly post something like that? I mean, hell, I do that all the time.
A-Rod did not do a single thing wrong in that instance.

I have done it a few times myself. I'm not going against what A-Rod did, but nobody that's following this cares at all that two high schoolers do this too. Because you guys do it, it's supposed to be okay? Can you imagine how huge this would have gotten if he did this against the Sox though? Or even better, if the Yankees were say, less than 13.5 games back of first. All we'd hear on Sports Center is Lebron and A-Rod...

EVERYONE does that. GODDAMN EVERYONE does that. It doesn't make a difference that we are in high school. Hell, I recall Ryan Freel doing that a few years ago to Scott Rolen.

All we'd hear on Sports Center is Lebron and A-Rod... Wait... you mean we don't already? Dang, what have I been watching! Also, Yankees suck.

I can't stand people bashing A-Rod for that. These are professional baseball players. Toronto got fooled and is angry because they looked like assholes. You never hear about this because no one is stupid enough to fall for it.

Scott Proctor tried to take Youkilis' (spelling?) head off today (technically yesterday, but whatever)
If I were in the organization, I would send the whole team to Baseball Etiquette 101.

I think Proctor intended to pitch in tight to Youkilis. I don't think he wanted the ball to get that close to his head though. If there were no batters hit before hand, than I would think Proctor was intending to get the head. Given the situation though, I understand that there was a message trying to be sent. The thing is though unless you are sure you can place the ball right where you want it, don't try it. He had to think that if he loses control of a pitch in tight and high toward the shoulder, he could have really done something terrible. With that said, he should have just hit the back.

Was there a batter on his team hit before he did this? If so, then he did the right thing, defending his teammate.
