Esche should be a hot target around the league, but for some reason isn't. Maybe Holmgren is purposely not attempting to shop him around or he wasn't "showcased" enough by getting some starts. I originally thought that was their plan for Nittimaki to just be the featured guy to spark interest and trade him away, but clearly that isn't their intention. I think a team like Montreal, who can rent Esche for the year until Huet gets back, seeing how Aebischer isn't shutting anyone down too hard or Toronto, who could give Raycroft some rest seeing how his stats have been iffy as of late and Aubin, their backup is fairly poor. The only team in the West I could see him going to is San Jose, even though Esche has had rumors to go there since October or MAYBE Colorado hoping for a late push, but then again, Esche I don't think would be a strong enough asset to do so. If the Rangers don't get back on things, I think Shanahan will go, seeing how he's a FA. And Gary Roberts and Todd Bertuzzi are both strong offensive assets that are FAs at the end of the year who could bolster a team's playoff position. I don't see San Jose going after goaltending help simply because they're in a similar situation to Buffalo: two starting quality goalies. Except Buffalo knows Miller is their man and Biron is the backup whereas San Jose probably still isn't sure who's the #1 guy. And Todd Bertuzzi as a strong offensive asset? That's assuming his surgically repaired back and his fractured psyche hold up. Way too much to ask for.

I guess I was kind of throwing it out there since the rumor has been there forever, so if for some reason they thought one of them was out of the running for the starting job they'd trade him for Esche to stir more competition... even trying to describe it seems unlikely. And I forgot that Bertuzzi had not come back yet. He was supposed to come back last week I know, but did not see that there's been a delay. If he manages to come back, he could be a last resort for some desperate teams, but you're porbably right in that even if he comes back no team will bother...

Frankly, of all the moves talked about lately, i'd be surprised if Bill Guerin and Keith Tkachuk didn't find a suitor. They're both still somewhat valuable and won't be asked to carry whomever takes a flier on them.
Gary Roberts I don't see going anywhere unless Toronto sees itself as a genuine threat to make the playoffs.
Belfour should go, but he's completely insane so that could deter teams.
The rest is just role players and there will undoubtedly be 110 million swaps of guys who will never turn the tide of a game, but won't screw it up for you.

Guerin and Tkachuk will probably go, following in the Doug Weight philosophy of leave to a contender and come back.

Tkachuk could still be an asset. His scoring isn't superb, but you know he's got a strong knack to the goal and isn't all that bad at faceoffs either...

Guerin would be good for any team that picked him up. Even if he's old and has lost speed, he can still fire the puck and help a team on the powerplay.
I really do think that the Bruins are going to make a good run at the playoffs. Thomas is playing just as good as any 'tender in the league right now, and the powerplay has been clicking. But, if Bergeron stays out with this lower body injury he's got, they don't have a very good chance.

I've been saying Boston's been under the radar for awhile. They play in the toughest division and even though they're in 11th in the East, they've played so little games, as it's been all year. 7-2 in their last nine doesn't look bad either...

They're only 5 points out of the 8th spot, and they do have 3 games in hand. So realistically, there probably two points out of that last spot.

And after this week they play 6 of 7 games at home, where they're over. 500...

Apparently Drury had to be helped off the ice after getting blind-sided by Chris Neil. Hope he's alright, we need anyone right now. Drew Stafford stepped up and fought Neil for the hit and later scored the GWG which makes me a bigger Stafford fan than I was before (and I liked the kid before).

Has anyone actually seen footage of the Sens/Sabres game last night? The hit Neil laid on Drury was both late and an elbow. Good for Stafford for standing up for his teammate, albeit if he didn't do more than get his jersey pulled over his head.
The Emery/Biron fight was lop-sided and Emery laid a whooping on him. What strikes me most about this is that Emery had a grin on his face not only the entire time he fought Biron but while Peters was laying shots in to the side of his head. And by the way, I've never seen Lindy Ruff so pissed off in my life and this is from a guy who never looks happy to begin with.
Neil should get a suspension for his hit on Drury. I was glad to see that the Sabres didn't back down, although i think they could've done things differently (Mair took a faceoff against Spezza, didn't go anywhere near the puck and just kept cross-checking Spezza, while Peters clotheslined Heatley).
Interesting game to say the least.

Good deal for the champs. Will it be enough to get them back to the Finals? Hell no. Unless Cam Ward becomes Patrick Roy, its not happening.

Bah, the hit on Drury was illegal and Neil needs to be suspended. Late and an elbow to boot.

Bah, the hit on Drury was illegal and Neil needs to be suspended. Late and an elbow to boot. unfortunatly its not illegal but I do agree it was a cheap hit on one of the opponent star player. I hate the sens to death. All I think of its that Neil tried to injured him and thats why he should be suspended. stupid sens, at least we all know they will choke again....

Drury needs to learn how to wear his helmet right... He was wearing it fine from what I saw. You can only wear a helmet so tight. The angle of the hit knocked it loose. I know there are some hockey players on here and I am sure they can relate. I know I wear my helmet just enough so it doesn't shake around on my head. It could easily come off with the right shot. Even if his helmet did stay on, he was still going to end up with the concussion.
