I figure the best conference in college football deserves a topic.
Great first weekend (well mostly) for the SEC. Tennessee dominates #9 Cal, Auburn looked stellar, LSU dismantled ULL, Florida pulled away from USM, and Alabama won a close one. The Arkansas performance left a lot to be desired, but Vandy actually played tough against UM in the loss.
I'll post my notes after watching Alabama tomorrow, and if you would like, post some notes about your team so we can see how they are developing.
Oh and Roll Tide!

Michigan played very poorly in the game against Vanderbilt. Counting the blocked field goal and the missed touchdown oppurtunities, the score would have been 45-7 instead of 27-7. All the mistakes we made, while maybe being justified since its the 1st week of the season, won't cut it in the game against Notre Dame in two weeks. However, our defense looked pretty impressive against Vandy. They had to resort to a trick play to score.

Bama's SEC Preview: Week 2
Game of the Week- Georgia at South Carolina
This game brings some interesting stories in with it. First off you have the Ole' Ball Coach facing the Georgia Bulldogs, which is always fun. Then you have two teams coming in with serious offensive questions to answer. Can Joe T. III actually lead UGA to a victory. He only went something like 7-17 last week for just 90 yards. UGA can run the ball however, which may be their saving grace. The Gamecocks on the other hand have their own questions to answer. They only scored 15 points against Mississippi State opening weekend, and looked rather anemic doing it. We'll see this week if it was MSU playing tough defense or USC just kind of sucking. I think in the end, UGA wins a tough SEC road game.
UGA- 23 USC- 13
Other Game Predictions-
Florida 42-10 UCF Alabama 21-10 Vanderbilt Kentucky 30-10 Texas State Tennessee 31-3 Air Force Arkansas 35-13 Utah State Auburn 31-0 Mississippi State LSU 30-7 Arizona Missouri 24-20 Mississippi

Missouri 24-20 Mississippi Who are some players to watch out for the Rebels in this game? I know Willis is a beast on the defensive side, and Schaeffer is the quarterback, but what other guys for the Rebels should Mizzou be worried about? Based on what I know, I would say 34-23 would be my prediction.

For Ole Miss, watch out for Green-Ellis at tailback. He's going to end up being the real "star" on offense. I don't know a lot about Missouri's defense, but it could be tough if they are not good against the run. They also have a solid offensive line, so Schaeffer ought to have a little time to make decisions. Missouri ought to be able to hold em to around 20 though, just based on what I saw against Memphis last week. Willis is really the main guy to watch on defense. They do have a tough defense all together though. A lot of the same people are coming back from last year's team, which lost games because they had absolutely no offense. I think Missouri will win, but really wouldn't mind being wrong. It's the SEC vs Big XII and I have to side with the boys who are still named after confederates.

You have to assume I'm not an idiot though, which is a streatch. Serisouly though, I'm hope I'm right so you can win a little money. We're about 20 minutes to football, so here's hoping for a an upset or two today and a great game tonight down in Austin.

They have a couple of sacks already in the first quarter, and they are up 7-0. Schaeffer doesn't look comfortable at all. He's kinda lofting balls up there, and if he's not careful, he's going to throw a few picks. Daniel is eating their secondary alive. ;D

Mizzou looks better on offense than I personally thought they would. Very impressive stuff. Oh and Ole Miss is as bad on offense as I expected, so this one could turn into a blowout.

Everybody's kinda counting out the Tigers since Brad is gone, but I don't think so. Daniel's a great fit for the spread, and as long as he stays healthy, I look for a good season. Having two AA caliber TE's doesn't hurt, either.

Alright, the Miss/Mizzou game is kind of pissing me off right now. It's a blowout, with Mizzou just having to run the clock out, and they won't switch me over to the Bama/Vandy game. It's 34-7 for crying out loud, just switch over so I won't miss the kickoff.

To double post in anger, they're showing the postgame show on FSN. I hope Bama never has another game on this network, this is sinful!

I would have expected Bama to win this won alot more easily. Vandy gave them a fight from looking at the boxscore and final of 13-10. I guess ill look to Bama's input on the game to find out more.

I'll explain it to ya. Bama played sloppy. Alabama had two turnovers in the redzone, and a fake field goal that got blown up near the 20. It was another week where the score should have been more like 28-10, instead of 13-10. There is really no killer instinct out there on offense. The right side of the offensive line is as bad as it was last year, or hell maybe worse if that is possible. On top of that, Ken Darby isn't the same back he was last year. I think he's injured or something, because he did not look good today, except for a few moments in the fourth quarter. On the positives, JPW is turning out to be a fantastic quarterback. He played above his years today, and had another 200+ yard day, which makes me feel better. The left side of the offensive line looks good, especally big Andre Smith who has looked like a rock on the left side of the line. Alabama's defense also looked very very good, as Vandy didn't do much except for the one drive at the end of the first half. I will say this much though, unless we can make some big leaps in the next two weeks, the Florida game will be a bloodbath. Leak, you wanted revenge, and you will get it. Bama won't be able to score 10 on UF and the inexperence on the defense will allow Leak to look good. I'm expecting a 7-5 year right now, but there might be a few blowouts along the way looking at the sloppy play today. I just can't be happy, considering I don't think we've scored a touchdown in some 10 redzone attempts. That's just not winning football right there.

Yeah, it didnt look pretty. Im just watching the UF boxscore right now and hoping that we'll be ready to come into Tennessee house and win a very important game for the SEC East lead later in the season.

Well I think UF will be ready, but I think it's going to be tough for them to win. You know, on the road against an extremly fast defense with an offense that has a lot of plays that take a little time to develope. Next week paints the picture of the SEC title though, with Auburn/LSU playing.

Yeah most likely the winners of those games will be our SEC Champ game this year. Atleast I would say that.

LSU is looking like a buzzsaw against a pretty decent defensive football team. That game next weekend ought to be fantastic, because both them and Auburn have looked very strong early on this year.
There could be some darkhorses in each division though. If Alabama or Arkansas can get their acts together, they could make some noise come November. In the East, UGA still has a lot of talent and USC has Spurrier which makes them a threat. I still think we're looking at a UF/LSU rematch up in Atlanta, but after seeing Tennessee last year I'm not so sure.
