I think you've lost your mind there butternuts. I mean look at how well the Pac 10 has done against the SEC this year. It's what, 1-3 or 1-4 against the SEC with only USC winning? The Pac-10 generally has a good bunch of teams, but this year it only looks like USC and Oregon are any good. I know, it's hard to accept, but over time it'll become easier. Yeah, USC has looked awful this season. Too bad we don't play them this year.

Just wait untill Big Ben (Ben Olson) leads the Bruins past the Vols next year.

Well, I think it is well known now that when they bring in Tebow, they are passing, and when Leak is in the game, they are running. But when is Tennessee going to realize this?
I'm just glad that Florida has managed to get the lead.

^You got it backwards, Tebow's the runner and Leak's the passer.
Hopefully the Vols will fold here, but being at home I'm kind of worried they still have a drive left in them. This reminds me of the Tennessee/Florida games of the 90s, with the intensity. Probably the most entertaining game I've seen today.

UF pulls it out in a great one 21-20. I have to say im glad this one is over, but I enjoyed watching my team tonight. Only problem I seen was the kicking job of Chris Hetland and possibly a few issues in the secondary at times.
The running game was alot better today than I expected it to be. You can just sense how bad Urban Meyer wants Tim Tebow at quarterback to run his offense. Leak did good today though, didnt make very many mistakes.
Our defensive line dominated and really was the main force in shutting down the Vols rushing game. Of course, Arian Foster was injured and didnt play much, but you could just tell how much our D-Line overpowered them.
All in all, my hopes for this season just got higher, but we still have a hell of a road to go seeing as this was just the beginning.

It was certainly a good game, by far my favorite this weekend.

Here, here! What a game and what a finish. I hate to say it was a bad call to not go for the endzone, but it didn't pay off to dump one off on the 10, wow. Na, it was a good game, and Russell made some very dumb decisions today. My problem goes to the men in stripes, who seemed to be hellbent on LSU losing that game. Homecooking is hard to watch, especally when it's going for the team that embodies all that is evil. I guess it's better than actually being evil, that honor goes to Tennessee. Edit*- Fantastic game by the ole Michigan boys, that was quite a joy to see. Wow bama you always amaze me. Holding LSU to 3 points has nothing to do with homecooking. We came out and beat LSU thats all there is to it. The right call was made, the ball was tipped and the call was made. Its great how much you hate Auburn. But hey, if I was you I'd be worried too. Auburn just beat the #6 team in the nation and Auburn is now #2 in the AP poll and Bama can barely get by Vanderbilt. You can pull all that crap like you always say about Bama just getting off probation, but come November we'll just beat you again. At least this year we will get to sack a different quarterback 11 times.

If you're unwilling to admit there was some homecooking in that game, you're blind my friend. Auburn got the key calls and it made a difference. Watching Auburn's defense, I'm not sure LSU wins but the refs took much of a chance of that away with bad calls. I'd rather see LSU try and win the game instead of having so many questions about the refs. Auburn won the game, enjoy it. There's just too many questions, that even the lumps in the media noticed, for me not to at least question the result. Also, I know Auburn's the better team right now, ain't a doubt in my mind. Alabama's played some sloppy ball and look a step behind both LSU and Auburn right now and I don't look forward to playing them. I'm not blind to the shortcomings of Alabama, and am rather concerned about the rest of the season. The probation hurts us, but right now what's really bogging us down is a lesson that ole Tubby has learned but Shula hasn't. Shula needs to hire a good OC to run the offense. Bama needs a Borges (spelled right?), and we'll be stuck with these anemic teams until we get that IMO. That much, Ray Charles could see. Don't be so cocky about the Iron Bowl though, stranger things have happened. I remember in 04 a severely over matched Bama team held Auburn close because they were pumped up for the game. It's a rivalry game, and that I think shows up because this game will have a lot to do with how long Shula stays at Alabama. It'll make it a close game, or Shula doesn't care about his job and neither does his players. If that's the case, he ought to be canned. The militant response though just goes to prove a theory of mine that Auburn is to the Red Sox what Alabama is to the Yankees. It's a little brother syndrome so to speak. You get a few wins over Alabama (the 02 and 05 games we should still feel sick about playing with such a lack of emotion) and y'all get all excited. During this period of time, which apparently is the greatest in the history of Auburn football you manage to win one SEC championship and that's it. One! Hell Mike Dubose won one when he was at Alabama. I'm just suggesting it's sad that this is the greatest era of Auburn football, a single ten win or better season in 6 years. Hey, look on the bright side though, at least you get to see it. Love, Your favorite depressed Bammer.

While waiting for auburn's responce, I think I'll post another SEC preview.
Well last week was a little harder to call, and it showed as I missed three calls. The big two weren't too bad, but who would have thought Miss. State was that bad?
Game of the Week: Alabama at Arkansas (My God what a weak week)
What is there interesting about this match up. We're looking at two teams who have looked anything but impressive in the opening weeks of the season. Arkansas comes into the game with a 2-1 record, including a blowout loss to #3 USC and a close call against Vandy. Alabama on the other hand rolls into Fayetteville with a 3-0 record, but unimpressive wins against Hawaii (25-17) and Vandy (13-10) really don't make them look any better than Arkansas. The key battle will be between the Hog's offensive line and Bama's defensive line. Alabama has to get a good push to stop the run or Arkansas has a real shot to knock off the Tide. If Alabama can't get that pressure, it opens up freshman Mitch Mustain to have enough time not to make a stupid throw and keeps Alabama from stacking the box against the powerful Arkansas rushing attack.
Alabama's defense will make the difference in a very ugly game up in Fayetteville, but to be honest, neither of these teams will be in the title talk come November.
Alabama 17 Arkansas 14
Other Games:
UGA 24-3 Colorado Wake F. 27-10 Ole Miss Auburn 54-3 Buffalo Tenn. 27-14 Marshall UAB 27-10 Miss. State Vandy 24-17 Tenn. State S. Carolina 27-10 Florida Atlantic Florida 42-17 Kentucky LSU 45-3 Tulane

Its just funny how somehow everytime, something caused Auburn to win other than... dare i say it? Auburn... Last year it was your probation and this year its the referees. And please tell me what bad calls your talking about. The PI they ovverturned at the end of the game was in fact tipped and the other PI you referred to on another post, well the Auburn receiver was tackled. Any other homecooking questions you have I'll be happy to clear up for you.

Ya, I have to agree Sportsbuck. Auburn, you beat LSU which was a huge win but dont get all high and mighty on your team this early. You play alot of good competition still, you should know that being in the SEC.
Plus id put alot on UF beating you guys later this season, and alot of our other future opponents, but you dont see me going around bragging about the Gators. Not yet atleast, just take your win and be happy.
All I know is just from your cockyness I cant wait for the Bama-Auburn game. Cause if you guys are looking past them like you are, I can smell an upset.

The PI they ovverturned at the end of the game was in fact tipped and the other PI you referred to on another post, well the Auburn receiver was tackled. Any other homecooking questions you have I'll be happy to clear up for you. Actually he wasn't tackled, but was hit in the middle of the play, very similar to the LSU player. In this case, another player not part of the PI picked the ball off. Amazingly, this is PI and takes away a turnover but a tipped pass is completely different. Also I've never said Auburn wasn't a good team, and right now at least is on another level than Alabama. I know this, because I saw what Auburn did against a great team last Saturday. They won't lose until Florida, and they very well win that. My point on the probation is that Bama just doesn't have the depth to play with the big boys in the SEC yet, and it's part of why Auburn has had their way with us over the past four years. The last three seasons, Auburn was just a better team and that's why you won. The 02 game on the other hand, was Tubby doing a great coaching job to get his boys up and upset us. You guys deserve credit for your program, because right now it is better than my Crimson Tide.I'm just hopefull Alabama starts doing better. Going back to the LSU/Auburn game, Auburn got the major breaks from the refs. I'm sure you disagree, but that's the way it looks to me. LSU still could have won but did not, because of some poor game managment and LSU's rather inept running game. See you in November, we have to get some sort of message board bet on for it. Come on, what's a little sig bet between rivals?

I think I'm going to puke. God, what an awful ending! Pitiful.
Leigh Tiffin will show himself to be a great kicker one day. Every kicker has a bad one like today, and it's ok. He's a freshman doing the job our senior kicker is more able to do. Shula is also way too conservative, because we are a better team than Arkansas and his inability to let JPW go when he was playing fantastic and instead turned to the running game to get a field goal.
I'm physically ill.

well, i'm gonna surprise everyone and agree with Bama that last week's LSU game had a little homecooking goin on
i can go both ways on the Pass Interference call, i mean for one thing, the ball was tipped way before it got near the receiver, so even if he was wide open, there was no way he'd catch it
but, on the other hand, our guy looked like he had a foot fetish by the way he was grabbing the LSU defender's foot, so it could be called PI for that reason
either way, LSU still had a shot to win the ballgame, Pass Interference call or not
and btw, they haven't called PI on anybody this year, i saw about 5 or 6 times in the UGA game today (which was bullcrap how they won) some potential pass interference calls
i guess this year you have to stab somebody to be called for Pass Interference

How about this 12-7 UF vs. UK halftime score? Interesting. I'm sure UF will pull away, but it's still closer than I thought.

The SEC Preview for Week Five:
The picks weren't too bad yesterday, with only Bama and Miss. State being my incorrect picks. Not to bad, but not great. So let's look at next week's Game of the Week.
Alabama at #5 Florida: Revenge
That's the one word that is going to come up every time someone talks about this game. As most remember, Florida got dominated in Bryant-Denny last year to the tune of 31-3, and the Gators remember better than everyone. Florida's defense is going to avenge giving up 31 points last year and Urban's offense is going to be out for blood after being held to just 3 points last season. Chris Leak throws 3 TDs against an inexperenced defensive backfield and Florida completely shuts down Alabama anemic rushing attack. If Alabama has a chance, it comes in sophomore quarterback John Parker Wilson. If he can handle the pressure of the Swamp and throw the ball well enough to get Florida to key off the run, Bama's got a shot to dominate the clock and keep it close. I don't think so though.
Florida 27 Alabama 10
Other SEC Games:
LSU 40-0 Miss. State Auburn 31-10 S. Carolina Tennessee 34-3 Memphis Kentucky 24-20 Central Michiigan Vanderbilt 23-3 Temple Georgia 31-3 Ole Myth
