Well he did it for one season, in a very down ACC. I would at least have a guy with a track record for winning games.
Hopefully we'll know more coem tomorrow.

Yea, I listen to a radio show called "The Sports Drive" after school. It's a two hour show and all they are talking about right now is Alabama for the whole two hours.
I have been waiting for you to post this topic so we could debate about it. Can't get enough of Alabama football huh? Even if it is bad news.

Rich Rodriguez would do a good job, I'd say. I think the Arkansas coach you folks are thinking of is Houston Nutt, correct me if I'm wrong. I don't really see him going there. Jeff Tedford will make all your QBs into studs, then they'll get drafted and bust. Doesn't really matter to you though, right? I don't know if I'd want Tedford....his team's floundering pretty badly.

Yea it is Houston Nutt. I don't think he will leave at all actually. He has way too much talent coming back next season to leave it all behind. Plus the academic program is going to have him so wrapped up that he want even be accesiable. It was just a name that was thrown out.
Oh, I forgot. Bama I laughed my ars off today when a guy called in and suggested that Brodie Croyle leave the NFL to come coach them...
I will tell you one guy that should be a good coach in the future and that would probably be Marc Guillon. He probably learned so much sitting under Shula and Coker for all those seasons.
Also, they said the best thing about Mike Tyce is that at least our o-line would be able to block.

Houston Nutt is a joke, in the fact that anyone acutally thinks we'll get him. Tedford has been a winner at Cal though, and also has done a lot with a crappy program. I'm not sure he's the guy, but I would like to have him. Oh and Backstop, listen to 710 AM around 2 o'clock for the Finebaum show. They've been talking about it for about a week, and it's a five hour show. I know Monday, he had Cecil Hurt on, the guy who broke the Shula story. Oh and I'm going to be up in Tuscaloosa Friday for a visit to UA they invited me to. So, if I see Spurrier wondering around, I'll be sure to give you a heads up.

I never liked Mike Tice as a coach....maybe cause he coached Minnesota and I hate them, but still. He had some talented teams and never really got enough out of them.

Yeah, and Hitler was a good guy too. Alright, I know that's in bad taste, but I just don't see it happening. It would be very cool, but yeah again, it's not going to happen.

As of tonight the hot rumor is Steve Spurrier, and that Bama made an offer to the tune of $3.3 million per year for seven years, a $5 million signing bonus, blank check to hire coaches, he'd answer directly to President Witt, and would be able to tansfer straight to AD when he retires.
Hell of an offer if true, which I still have doubts. I'll have a manic episode if he does go to Alabama however.

Cower will not leave. Why leave a franchise where the ownership will let you coach until you decide not to, and go to a school with a fan base as demanding as Alabama's?
I'm not saying anything bad about Bama, but, realistically, would you leave a sure bet job, that you will get paid better at, to go a job with very little job security, for lower money?

Well Bama...
I heard today that Alabama has already signed there new coach but nobody is releasing any information until all the negotiating is complete. Also, not only was Spurrier in town last night but has been there all week.
If we got Spurrier. Would you be dissapointed or happy? I would have to say I would be thrilled if we got Spurrier as a coach. Like they said on the radio today. Spurrier has lost to Alabama the last three times so if you can't beat us, join us.
As for the Cowher remark. That is the most retarted thing I have ever heard.

Honestly....anyone who complains about Spurrier coming in and coaching their teams needs some mental help.

I would probably skeet myself if we got Spurrier in there. I'm still not convenced he's our man though, in the sense that I think he says no. If not though, I'm going to be the happiest dude in Louisiana if he shows up in T-Town to coach for my freshman year there.
