I guess I'm one of the few who liked the passing cone?

I didn't mind the passing cone, but eventually I did turn it off.

I can't play without the passing cone. I'm one of those idiots who will scramble around with Vick and cross-body it across the field every once in awhile, and I get frustrated with myself for cheating the AI by having Crumpler make insane one handed-catches.
So really, I use it more for making myself try to be realistic than to make it realistic on itself...

EA appears to have more than just one new thing in Madden 08, but if you build up your hopes too much, you'll be disappointed because perfection is not attainable and if you don't like it, get off your butt, go outside and play football..and then if your still not satisfied go out and pick up NFL 2k5 and get the rosters updated

Actually, I think this is a perfect example of one of the years Madden is brining essentialy nothing new this year. A bunch of very minor things, but an upgrade in a feature isn't really a new feature...
I liked 2k5, but not like how I liked MVP Baseball 05, where I'd actually download the game online and update the rosters. 2k5 was great because not only did it look great, but it was on track for more...

there are always a lot of little changes that make the game itself better, but they get little notriety..everyone looks for big sweeping changes every year and the reason why that isn't done is because of a word called continuity

I believe the word is "time", as in EA doesn't have the amount to make sweeping changes. It's not a very long development cycle.

that's true...that's why I don't understand some people...some just whine about how it should be, but they don't understand what all it takes

There's been glaring issues and lacking features which other games have brought in years ago that EA hasn't even seemed to acknowledge. And really, what my original intent of my earlier post was to tell you that they don't have "more than one new thing in this years game"... I shouldn't have sidetracked this onto how and what efforts are put into doing it.

I don't buy NFL games anymore, but I did like Madden over 2K back in the day.

If EA wasn't satisfied with the finished product, they wouldn't release the game. Plain and simple.

before the NFL went exclusive, Madden couldn't have sucked too bad otherwise it wouldn't have sold as well...cause those saying that Madden is/was inferior to the 2k game don't have the bottomline to prove it...even though Madden already had the advantage in fan base, if 2k's game was that much better (which in IMO it wasn't, in some areas it was, such as the ESPN presentation) it would have simply outsold it ...2k5's gameplay was very simple and didn't focus on the intrcacies of all the different types of pre-snap adjustments that Madden

People buy Madden on name basis. I know people that would have still bought Madden just cause it was Madden even if 2K had put out a perfect football game.

there is a built-in fan base, I agree, but if Madden were as bad as say NBA Live, then it would have been slightly different

What I should say...
If EA is satisfied that their product is good enough for consumers to be sucked in, they'll release the game.

So uh, how else was 2k5 lightyears ahead of madden 07 besides the gang tackling feature.
Not that I disagree with you, I just would like to know what other major differences there were, cause I really couldn't find many. But maybe I didnt look hard enough.

What I should say... If EA is satisfied that their product is good enough for consumers to be sucked in, they'll release the game. Again, all they need, because of the exclusivity, is the same game as last year with updated rosters and it will still make a lot of money.

I hated the 2k game, well it was good untill I got Madden, the franchise mode of 2K felt like a string of exhibition games and the only reason I knew it was a season was a weekly newscast which got pointless as time dragged on. But so far for the 360 football has been a disappointment. I doubt ill do more than rent this game but im liking Madden, but that happens every year until I play it.
The only way I could actully buy this game is if they delivered a better franchise mode.
