I haven't defended our pitching at all.I know it sucks plain and simple. If we don't make the playoffs, that will be the reason why. Shit, half our pitching staff is on the DL. Andy Pettite picked up the slack that he needed to last night and the bullpen couldn't come through. Plain and simple. Jeff Karstens, what is good about him? Definitely not the most attractive human in the world, and he doesn't pitch much better either. Our lineup is fine, but we need pitching all around. Rivera, I don't even know why we tried to get him back. He's aging and that's about it. Mussina as well. Pavano, well I had some hope after the Twins game, but I have come to the conclusion that he is the biggest pansy on the face of this Earth. Igawa, is a huge question mark. He has the ability to be good, but it's going to be a long road for him. I am not mad about this team really, because I still think they will hit their groove eventually, but I am going to relax this year. We aren't going to be WS champs and I think Mr. Torre will be gone after this year. Cashman will stay, because look at everything that he has brought in. I am disgusted in the pitching, but I'm not worried about anything else. Except on the 2nd page you were so optimistic about Pettite, Wang, and Pavano... And also on the 2nd page you said "there's no injuries that need to be worried about", yet now you seem to be using the "half our staff is on the DL excuse"

What has Cashman brought in? Offense? A championship-calibre team doesn't need offense! It needs pitching and he's far too incompetent to friggin' sign something worth putting on the mound. Pavano was a mistake and I knew it, Wright the same, I called it and argued with my dad about it when it happened and look where they've gotten us. Johsnon...knew it. Igawa...he's not going to be anything. Karstens is a joke out there and now tomorrow we gotta hope and pray another rookie can pull off a win or at least a decent outing so our offense can pick up the slack.
Cashman has done shit and will continue to do shit because he thinks pitching isn't important despite the fact that pitching was a huge key to all those championships at the end of the 20th century. We don't need anymore hitters and we definitely don't need anymore 35-and-over pitchers/former Yankees...no offense Pettitte you're doing good but we could've gottten someone worthwhile in the long run for less cash, same with Pussina.

It's not that Cashman isn't trying to buy, err, bring in good pitchers, is that teams are smart enough to realize that it's not worth trading away decent pitching for more offense. What Yankee fans SHOULD be realizing now is that trading away 50 prospects a year for offensive and pitching help for the present will bite you in the ass 3 years down the line. You guys don't understand the value of having an actual farm team, where your prospects play and develop. You finally have one good prospect in Hughes, but had you not traded away all of your prospects, you'd probably have an arsenal of young organization-born pithers. All of your years of trying to stay a contender looks like a joke now, because to do that, you had to trade away the pieces you need for today. So you guys can brag when Cashman reels in A-Rod and Abreu and getting back a 34 year old pitcher and attempting to get a 45 year old one. The rest of the league doesn't mine paying 10% of the price for a player a little more than half their age that can put up similar numbers and make them just as competitive...

And also on the 2nd page you said "there's no injuries that need to be worried about", yet now you seem to be using the "half our staff is on the DL excuse" Did I talk about the bullpen? No. Was Pavano on the DL at the time? No. Also, Pettite has actually done decent. Don't even say he has sucked so far. Wang was also tied for the league lead in wins last year... why should I be worried about him? It's a 15 day DL. That's why I wasn't worried. I guess I should start worrying, there is only a few games left.

Everyone knew it was a matter of time before the Yankees started splitting apart at the seams. Didn't think it would take this long, though.

Except Pavano was on the DL at the time... check your dates...
I don't understand why you're defending the team's performance so far (our pitchers are all hurt wah wah but they'll be better when they come back) and yet in your other post you say how the pichting sucks period, and now you're back to saying "oh it's only 15 day DL, when they come back our pitching will be good again"... make up your mind dude, you can't have it both way without sounding like an idiot fanboy

Wait. Who the hell is this Rodriguez fella everyone keeps getting erections about? 07 MVP if he keeps it up. Unfortunately it'll be for a 30-132 team if this pitching keeps totally blowing.

A-Rod always picks his game up when his team doesn't do well. Too bad when he plays in meaningful games he can't do that...

A-Rod would win MVP every year if you stick him on crappy teams.
Put him on a playoff team and he becomes the Most Valuable Goat.

Can't complain about A-Rod or the rest of the lineup, but I think it is clear which area is struggling. Oh and McGahee, you got me a couple of posts back. I was just a little frustrated. I can't even deny our pitching anymore, it's just plain sad. Igawa was probably the biggest waste of money I've seen. Pavano gets one more chance. If he goes on the DL, buy him out I don't care. Well I can look on the brightside. Roger may come back this summer. We can give him only 20 million for 3 months of work. But I guess I would take anything at this point.
