Feel free to put whatever you want regarding the NHL offseason here, whether it be the draft, free agency, trades, what you want to see your team do, etc.
Biggest news so far is probably Florida sending Roberto Luongo, Lukas Krajicek, and a sixth-round pick to Vancouver for Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan Allan and Alex Auld. I really like this deal for the Canucks, since this finally gives them a legit #1 goalie. Luongo's vaule probably wasn't met for the Panthers, although that probably was the best offer they were gonna get. Whether you like him or not, Bertuzzi is certainly a very good player, and Auld showed flashes of greatness on and off last year, basically giving Florida something to toy with.
The Colorado Avalanche traded left wing Alex Tanguay to Calgary for defenseman Jordan Leopold and two draft picks Saturday in a draft-day deal between Northwest Division rivals. I love this deal for Calgary. Once Iginla gets going again, him and Tanguay can be a dominant scoring duo.
By now you've probably all heard the Pronger rumors so I won't get into that...
And Carolina has resigned Brindamour for 5 years...

For the FLyers: Get smaller, get faster, quickly
Im so sick of seeing the Flyers every year go pick up some big bulky defensemen and think they're set. It's the new NHL, physicality doesn't win. As you saw in the playoffs it's about speed. Ken Hitchcock and Bobby CLarke need to get their act together. I know Freak will agree with me if he sees this.

Just saw:Cristobal Huet has signed a 2 year deal to stay with Montreal. I think this is a great move for the Habs, as Huet was remarkable last season. Plus, he's young and has a bright future

Well the big style is important for the Flyers. We have always been a team of big guys who will fight, and I think we always will be. I don't mind have the big physical defensemen, but we have to cut down on them. I think you can make it up with wingers who will throw down. The big thing for the Flyers will be re-signing Simon Gagne and Kim Johnson. Both are going to be crucial for our sucess. I just hope they don't let one of them go. Gagne can be an amazing offensive player and Johnson is great with the new NHL rules.

Yeah, Johnsonn is one of the defensemen i actually like, and Gagne is a sniper. The Flyers are going to be hurting without Forsberg next year, but then again, we'll have Primeau back

I wouldn't put money down on Primeau. Don't be surprised if he gets released. That last concussion was bad. They had worked an agreement that he was going to try and be back by last Febuary or the team could release him if needed.

Detroit needs grit and speed desperately. And a goalie. JS Giguere, anyone?

I'm not buying Simon Gagne as a great scorer. He had more than half of his goals in the 1st two months of the season, and then drifted off. Sure, that's when Forsberg started to go down, but scoring only 20 goals in 4+ months is not what a great scorer is capable of. Philly probably should resign him, but I'm not sure he's the best option ofr the team. Oh, and I love Johnsonn. I really thinnk he has what it takes to be a top defensemen.

What happened to Abbie in Montreal? Did he even play a game for them?

Off the top of my head, Aebischer played a few games, and I didn't think he did all too bad in his last few games, but I'm assuming because Huet was playing so well, that what he did wasn't good enough...

As an Avs fan, that Tanguay move angered me to no end. The Avs are falling apart piece by piece...

Well, the Stars are going to be buying out Bill Guerin's contract.

Good for them. One of the most overrated players in the game if you ask me.

Ottawa resigned Wade Redden, which was exspected and needed. Redden, Chara, and maybe Andrej Meszaros were the only decent defenders that Ottawa had, and Redden is by far the best of those 3...
And yesterday, Dave Lewis, the former Red Wings coach, was given the Bruins head coaching job...

I wouldn't put Redden far ahead of Chara, if at all. They both are very good defensemen in their own right, but no doubt it was a big move to get Redden back under contract.
