Actually the specs of the Guerin deal are as follows:
St.Louis gets a SJ first rounder, Ville Nieminen and prospec Jay Barriball while San Jose obviously gets Guerin.

NHL.com is up to date. That's where I got the specs on the Guerin deal. I'm sure they'll be ahead of ESPN.com with all the deadline stuff.

I highly expect by the end of today Esche/Nittimaki will be gone. There's no other explanation why they want Biron at all.
Dennis Wideman has excellent offensive potential. He'll be a beast on the power play, but is pretty iffy on the defensive side. He'll be a 40-50 point guy in a couple of years...
Ryan Smyth was traded solely for financial flexibility. They simply can't afford him.

Ryan O'Marra and Robert Nilsson an'tr just prospects they are high end prospects... Nilsson is son of Kent Nilsson former Flames top player and O'Marra has some Ryan Smyth likeness to him... they should be good players its funny that both players are born in a country and then both of them were raised in a differant country and they both come from countries that aren't close to thier surname Nilsson was born in Calgary but has a Swedish last name O'Marra was born in Tokyo, Japan but has a Canadian last name.. |

I don't really like the deal also but Washington could be pretty sick offensively sooner or later with Ovechkin, Semin, Bäckström, Novotny, and Suthurby |

They simply can't afford him. well actually they could have they were in talks to resign him at 5.5M but the real sticking point was future salary as they did not want to commit 5M when it is unsure if at 32 or 33 symth will be worth it. They traded him because they were scared they would get nothing when he signed away in the off-season thats why they traded him. Also I was thinking about this: this past offseason the oilers signed hemsky (6 years), horcoff (2 years), and roloson (3 years) for a combined 14M a year but somehow could not prioritize signing the best player on their team. |

Sabres picked up Mikko Lehtonen from Nashville which doesn't seem like a big move at all but i've heard great stuff about him being a solid defenseman so with him and Persson coming through the ranks the Sabres have some good D-men coming through...
