I agree Stamkos has probably been Canada's best. Have you seen any of Doughty? Every time he touches the puck I have to hold my breath because he gives away breakaways like noon else. Is supposedly the #2 skater for this draft. Yeah, he actually set up Canada's 2nd goal against Finland with a nice rush and a lucky bounce to Stamkos. They were talking about him and he was one of the attention getters of the game. |

Downie is a thug and has every reason to be permanently banned from the NHL. The guy is a complete joke with everything he's been able to accomplish thus far in the games he hasn't been suspended that he actually got to play. If the Flyers can't see this, then clearly they need to be hit with a commissioner-ordered punishment to the entire organization. If they can see it though, and they're just trying to coast through without it being a big deal, then I've lost all respect for that organization. Hard hits and fights are an integral part of hockey, but the work of a thug has no place in the sport...

He started a fight with some kid on his team, got his ass beat and the kid took all of the heat. |

I actually used to like Downie when he played for Canada at the WJHC. He was a tough, no-nonsense leader with some scoring ability. Kinda a poor-man's Jarome Iginla with a serious temper problem. Now it seems like he is overcompensating for is limitations and turning himself into a retarded goon. It's sad to see a guy with his potential being an idiot.

so yeah the oilers got ass-raped yesterday by the Canes of all teams 7-2. Yesterday was blow-out friday or something Buffalo, Carolina, Calgary, and a couple other teams all won by blow-outs. And did anyone see that freaking goal by Rick Nash that was the absolute sickest thing I have ever seen. The Nash goal is sick, yes, but the Ovechkin is better. Nash had his head down and got lucky enough that 2 defenders just swiped at the puck instead of putting him on his ass like you're taught from the time you're in squirts. Ovechkin made just as nice a move at full speed to get to the outside and while he was lucky it went in, it took ALOT of skill to even keep the puck on his stick while on the ice, let alone whirl around and put it on net. Not bad though.

IMO Ovekchin didn't even mean to do what he did. Sure it looked sick but honestly there is no way in hell he could've know that would of happened. I heard some guy on TV talking about it and he was like "The greatest goal ever, look he pushes the puck with his elbow so that he can get it to his stick and then put it in." Umm.... no he didn't he got lucky. He was falling down and the puck hit his elbow and then he swiped at air hoping for a miracle and he got it. That's it. I do agree that was a horrendous D effort but I dont think he detracts from how good that goal was. It also isn't that easy just to plant someone as you make it out to be. Nash is like 210 solid pounds I doubt they would have been able to even if they could.

Boston beat NYR today, going to the shootout. 3-3 after regulation, and Boston won the shootout 2-0.
The only reason I'm posting this is because I was there, and felt such a need to.
Chuck Kobasew scored two goals <_<
I'm also going to say that Zdeno Chara looks goofy on skates.

Regardless, I understand Nash is big but you don't have to knock him down. Get in his face instead of swiping at the puck and he doesn't pull that off. |

I don't know what Freak thinks, but I don't think you mortgage the future for Sundin. He's a really solid, star-type player but he's not going to carry the team offensively and he's not going to make them that much better. Sundin has been past his prime for awhile now, but really, a team like Detroit or Dallas should go after him, not Philly.
